Looks good @michael336. I like the hood in particular. I think it would look even better if you matched the insert color to match the wing rather than the car.

Not usually a fan of raised wings on street cars, but I like this one. I'd have to lose the spoiler though, as others have suggested above.

Eh there's nothing wrong with the spoiler IMO. The stock rear deck is a hair shorter than optimal which is why some variants of the car came with spoilers like the BRZ Limited. It should marginally help the rear wing, if that's the goal. He also said in another thread that the spoiler has a rear view camera installed and covers up the hole for the wire, which is clever! (look carefully at the 2nd picture)

I'm more worried about the head work, direct injection heads are designed a certain way as the way the air flows inside the cylinder is important and he could've accidentally ruined it.

Might sound silly but, I read somewhere on the net that the 86 cost around 80-100k AUS Dollars in China. Is that true ?

I can't say from experience exactly how much they cost in China, nor do I know what it converts to in AUS$, but the import tax is something like 100% in China and many developing countries where manufacturing is a major part of the economy. This is done for several reasons, among which include protecting domestic industry by making it cheaper for manufacturers to set up shop locally rather than importing and helps local industry gain experience building products that people will eventually go off and start their own companies to compete against Toyota, VW, etc.

VW, Toyota, Nissan, even BMW I believe all have factories in China to sell certain models domestically while skirting the high import tax. High end models and niche cars like the 86 are still imported to maintain quality control and because only people who can afford them would actually want them. Several companies in California who have connections in China will purchase high end cars like MB, BMW, Lexus, Bentley and ship them to customers in China because even that is cheaper than buying it from a Bentley dealer in China!

hi, 86 here in china costs 270k rmb, which is about 35k us dollars

I don't think this is the main reason, at least not anymore. I think the tax is 3 categories import, luxury, and a general car tax. Domestically manufactured cars still have a pretty fat tax slapped on to discourage excessive car ownership. A Chinese made Honda Accord or Nissan Altima equivalent sells for over 30k USD. A really low end Chinese brand car that is exported to the EU for ~7kUSD is still sold for around 10k USD or so.

This tax is not unique to manufacturing countries, Singapore hits you with a 100k vehicle licensing cost or something like that, and several European countries also have displacement taxes that can be several times the value of the car. Malaysia, Indonesia, Denmark, Sweden, etc. etc. Basically, they really don't want people to have cars.

Chinese made BMWs, MBs, and Audis cost 2x what they do in the US, because they have a luxury tax or something tacked on. Strangely, imported Porsches are only a little bit more than that, coming in at 120% more than they cost in the US. The OP said he paid basically the same as what the Toyota badged Lexus IS from Japan costs in China, probably around 40k USD equivalent.

$35k USD doesn't seem too bad for a GT86 in china considering what i remember about car prices in China. I do remember a family friend we visited in Shanghai had a toyota camry they paid about $40-50 and they told me with the tax cars were usually about double due to tax compared to US. But again this was close to 15 years ago. couple years later another family friend of ours bought a 740 BMW and i think they paid about $130-140k
