I went to last year's HIN Dallas... it was my first time since 2005 or 2006...I have to say the turn out was disappointing... The overall experience was a letdown compared to HINs I've been to in the past: HIN Orlando, Atlanta, Houston, and Dallas. I thought about showing at HIN Dallas but I think I'll do HIN Houston instead.

I hope for those that are going this year that the HIN crew and the participants step it up this year. Quality rides, show stoppers, better entertainment, and more spectators!

Is there anything else you would like to see from HIN other than what you mentioned above? Always would love to hear suggestions from show goers and show participants.

I mean, true HIN isn't in the "glory days," but from what I hear it's still a pretty decent showing for the past year. I've seen some photos from the recent events in Texas and that's actually what got me curious in going again - the turnout looks pretty good.

Thanks for the input, as I have not been since 2005-2006. Might have to check it out again. What's the input as to if Houston or Dallas is better?

Maybe it's the "grass is greener" effect? People from Houston say to me the same thing about HIN Houston and say they'd rather go to Dallas. Going to car meets in the same area frequently you'll see some of the same cars/teams often. It's just inevitable and there's nothing wrong with that. Especially if you're doing a screening process to get the best product out there like you state you wanted. Most people can't just decide to make crazy quality builds whenever the next show is in town. That costs money and lots of it.

It basically boils down to marketing and good past experiences imho. Enthusiasts are going to go regardless (as long as they have no scheduling conflicts) ... so getting the hype out there through social media is where you draw the most spectators. If spectators had a good time or were impressed with the venue previously then the marketing will hit home and be effective.

HIN Dallas 2014 wasn't bad compared to other car shows just not as good as past HINs.

Hopefully the turnout this year will be a good one.

I don't know how HIN Houston is going to be but I'm going to give that show a try this year. You might be right about the "grass is greener on the other side" efffect... however in my case I am not familiar with either cities rides. I'm just going to show, learn, get ideas, and meet other enthusiasts.

All great input! Thanks guys! Would yall like to see certain models (if so, who?)? or maybe more prizes given away? we're trying to make the show more well rounded. HIN's vision is for it to not only be just about cars but an all around event.

@pleong, your ride was featured in D-Sport right? That's what I want to see at HIN... builds like yours.

Last year I had a very difficult time tracking down owners (specifically 86 owners) to ask questions about their parts, performance, general and specific knowledge, etc... It would be nice if there was a way to get owners to hang around their rides more in order to have such interactions...plus it would be cool to meet other forum members in the flesh.

I completely agree with this. I want to see the crazy builds. I want to see extensive custom work, craftsmanship, and creativity. Not just some cars with off-the-shelf aftermarket parts slapped on (like mine ). From pictures, I've seen a lot of slammed <insert car here> with expensive wheels, and a lip kit.

I enjoyed seeing builds like @pleong 's even though it's not my style. Not because he's my fraannddd but the amount of work and details that goes into the car. It's show worthy.
