If the car in the video is what they have in inventory, do not buy VIN # JF1ZNAA19D2700900

I agree, that's abuse. But some context is needed. Poor car...

Before we all grab our pitchforks, let's remember this may have been one of the training cars brought in to show/teach the dealership staff about the vehicle. Regardless, it's still good to know what's happening out there.

Very true, as they did say it was a training car in Charlotte, but still concerning.

Holy hell, when I get mine I am going to watch it roll off the truck or I will NOT take delivery after seeing this. I hope corporate sends them a nasty letter about doing this after someone complains. I do not care if this was a demo vehicle or not, bouncing the limiter in neutral is always bad, even if the engine is past break-in.

In this case, while it's not the most impressive piece of cinema, let's take it easy here and recognize the important detail which is that may not have been abusing a customer's car. Training vehicles are sent out specifically to be poked and prodded and, while the "fuel cut in neutral" thing is pretty much the lamest thing you can do in a car, we must remember that this is the best most dealerships have as far as connecting with enthusiasts. (I mean, they still think balloons and Top 40 radio help sell cars -- and it must be true to some extent because they wouldn't spend money on balloons if they didn't have to! )

Ultimately -- lame video, not great for the car, not the kind of thing that impresses anybody on FT86Club, but we've got the VIN and Scion surely has a process in place to certify/inspect these cars if/when they ever go on sale to the public.

But but...what about all those people that defended the "more than 10 miles" pre delivery inspection process?

This is EXACTLY what we've been saying all along. I even made the point about destroying an engine without moving the car one inch.

And most likely will be sold as a demo later on to some poor soul who assumed the car had been test driven, not abused.

Will an ECU dump show how many times a car has hit the rev limiter?

oh my god those morons, couple that with some hideous ugly ass tennis shoes, all i can think about is slamming the door to his leg if i were the car.

Dear Scott-myass-Clark Toyota, we don't need you making promo video of the car that says nothing about the car except the level of education your employees have. If it's training day teach your people about the car! How does "demonstrating" wrong redlining techniques help sell car? Teach them about the boxer engines, the low CoG, the excellent transmission, or just setting up the bluetooth for fark sake. Stop employing monkeys who only know how to press foot on the gas pedal, yell like idiots and film pointless video.

Poor that firestorm baby (

Was it bouncing off the rev limiter at 7500+ or does it have a lower rev limiter in neutral? Some cars won't let you rev past 4k in neutral... just sayin'
