In Ontario, it is much easier to drive to the scrapyard, hand over the tittle and collect $300 than it is to do the paperwork to sell it to someone else.
man.. what a perspective..

I just can't correlate proper maintenance and care for a car with worrying about the salvage value of it.. but then again, people take care of their things the way they want to. The proof is in the pudding as to how well taken care of they are and to what extent they're used

It is better now that cars can stand the salt better but even taking the best care ever can still result in a car worth almost nothing after10 years.

Mine looked like that. But then it rained for two days straight a couple of days ago. Now she almost doesn't even need a bath.

I DD mine. Do 66mi a day and do autocross and track events. put 35K miles on it so far. There are two car guys in my opinion. Like my dad who owns a 392 SRT8 challenger, he baby's the car. Does not drive it in the rain and has never felt the full potential of the car. Then you have people like me who mostly only has fun close to the limit. I wash my car when I can but don't worry about dings and scratches too much. I view my car like a muddy STI rally car not like a classic Ferrari. Besides, the morning after I took the car home back in 2012, we had a storm and I found a tree branch next to my car and 4 dings in the fender.

if I did that, I would put about 20 to 30 more minutes per couple weeks to my loved one, which would then equal ALL my non-profession time

It's really not that hard to care for your stuff.

If we're arguing investments... Preventative and proper maintenance and repair, in MOST scenarios, save you time and effort down the road. Read: better ROI.

This is in the aggregate, but I dare someone to argue otherwise..

Compare to a lot of ppl I don't really baby my car. I have a dent that I havnt fixed for months and hastily touchup my rear bumper when I accidentally back into a wall on the first week I got the car ( really really bad touchup job) but I wax it regular, wash it when I could. I do all Maintaince by myself and to the T. I only put the best parts I can afford on the car, if I can't afford it I rather leave that part stock. I did this not to preserve the value of the car. I did it BecuAse I don't ever see myself selling it. Thus all self inflicted surface injuries are just stories we have made together. What mattes to me the most is how I feel when I drive it and when I get to wrench on it. I don't drive it in the winter becuase I can. I try not to drive it in the rain BecuAse im lazy and don't like to wash it but likes it clean.

I auto x it, I will take it on track day. I redline it Everytime I drive it.

Is this consider babying?
