Based on my observation, the majority of JRSC buyers are older, more experienced folks who just want a headache-free experience. They do not post on forums, and have no desire to become part of the community. They just want some more oomph for a car they otherwise love.

everyone who looks for a Rotrex based system (not super duper Turbo kit) already set their mind to have a "less" dangerous kit ..that still doesn't mean, it will be "headache-free" there is no guarantee for that, it will be still riskier (compared to simple bolt on mods) btw, I am 38 years old do I still qualify to be in that mature niche-market?

Not sure if I can make it to Cali this year ( I will be lucky if I can attend 5-6 track events this summer) but thanks for the offer .. It seems like I will have to come to LA sometime in the summer though, (for visiting a friend ),

For some reason Vettes are the most common among these owners, but quite a few have a Porsche. Their comment is always that the FRS is more fun to drive, and the weight difference is night and day. |

Leaving, ahem, age out of it, I think that's a fair observation. I will say that I "argue" for a living, and I really have no interest in also engaging at that level in an on-line interest group. It's just tiring; often to no good purpose. Early adopters and rush-to-market issues aside, when I was collecting information from this terrific community for my choice, and after reading many, many, many threads on all the FI platforms, and after deciding on SC vs. turbo, the JRSC seemed the logical choice FOR ME: reports on ease of installation and set-up, support, track-based development (critically important for me), and--at the time--no reports of post-installation problems. Winner! I just love plug 'n play. No other kit--at that time at least--had that reputation. Now, assuming the OP is still engaged in this debate, I assume he will be just as happy to be pointed to all the positive development and ownership info for the KW kit as the JRSC kit. It's great to have choices, though, as has been said before, there are so many choices for this platform, it can be overwhelming. Required disclosures: I have no personal experience with the KW system, and I was not compensated for my opinion. |

That's me, except for the Vette part. Though that Z06 Stingray is calling . . . Several Porsches and BMWs, and still running an M3 race car. Even with its faults and cheap build parts, the BRZ is an awesome, awesome chassis. What I realized over time and many cars is that you can't really enjoy or use 350+ hp on the street, and most of us aren't fortunate enough to spend more than a relatively few days on track per year. So, how much fun can the daily driving, stoplight-to-stoplight, slow corner-to-slow corner experience be? Answer: BRZ/FRS! It is not a GT car by any means, but it is engaging with every rotation of the wheels. The only platform that approaches this connection in my experience is an older Carrera. But, since I like air conditioning and modern integrated technology . . . |

heat soak is a big issue, C7 Z06 engine sucks big time and C7 LT1s are still keep blowing ..I would still much rather a later dry-sumped LS3 (Grand Sport) or a C5 Z06 for track reliability..

It's the whole design package and presence of the Z06 that I'm looking at. That, or C7 Z51 for the more sensible approach. A built C5 (or C6) is arguably the best value for a high HP track car. With a capable driver at the wheel, you need some kind of Cup car to legitimately challenge those cars. I just can't seem to get there though . . . Now, the upcoming GT 350, maybe a different story. Funniest track video in my little world was my friend in a Lotus Exige Cup getting absolutely toasted by a C6 ZR1 on the straights at VIR, and then catching the Vette at every corner. 300+ hp and torque differential is NOT better than a competent driver in a well-balanced car. Leaving driving skills aside, the interesting thing is that the Exige is so good, even average drivers pick up lots of time. Getting it to 10/10ths though, takes a special person. |

Yeah, they do tend to poop out often: oiling has long been a problem with those big motors, or valves. But, I'm near Phoenix Performance, and they know how to set up a Vette for longevity and performance. Ultimately, it's all academic as I don't really see myself in one of those track beasts. |
