Just got it back yesterday, replaced with an OEM clutch since I'm not planning on adding more power beyond bolt-ons. Feels so WEIRD to have the clutch feel like it did at Day 1. Also, I had the transmission fluid swapped, oil changed and diff fluids replaced, so the car pretty much does feel like a brand new purchase again.

I still can't NOT drive it hard... I slow down by gradually releasing the clutch and not just stepping on the brakes, but I may start using the brakes more. I just don't like wearing out my taillights! I kid! I kid!

I've also decided to not move away from Alaska just yet, so I'm going to continue modding Rinzler to my little heart's content instead of saving the money for moving like I had planned on doing. Which is good, because I let a female borrow my car while I was out-of-state for the past two week and she completely cracked my Bayson R front lip...

"One day I'll grow up and become a REAL boy!" I'm looking at OFT, exhaust and header to add some pep to my step by the year's end.

You know, I've not once, in the 9 years that I've been in the Subaru/car modding game, ever heard someone say they LOVED their aftermarket clutch. Of course, no one every seems to love their stock clutch either, unless it's the STI. I actually loved my stock clutch on the BRZ compared to my 08 Forester XT and 11 WRX, and equal to my 05 STI. So in my mind, OEM just seemed logical. However, just this morning I thought I should research the different clutch types since now I have a better understanding of their mechanics. The last time I researched clutches I think was around 2009 when my STI was my first manual transmission vehicle and I was just curious, but had no comprehension.

People talk up Exedy, ACT, etc, and their clutch engagement always seemed kinda... not smooth, whenever I rode in their cars. Of course, their engines were usually modified a bunch too, or their engine was pretty much stock, but their clutch was way too heavy of an aftermarket one.

Ideally, I was looking on Japanparts for the STI clutch for the BRZ, but I was in the middle of Maryland on my way to Alaska on a week-long road trip, and really didn't have time or desire to mess with researching it. Timing REALLY sucked.

TRUE about the clutch, but I believe the exedy stage 1 should have a little more bite than the stock which will be okay for more power I suppose.
but I understand what you mean haha.

you plan on going full STI?, man I wish I can take my car up to Maryland my family lives up there. I enjoy driving through the wilderness with all the trees surrounding.

Yeah I stayed in Damascus for a day. It was nice!

I guess if I aim to make around 230HP then I should look into a heavier duty clutch, because I doubt this one will last to 110k miles. haha

STI parts are expensive. I don't want the coilovers from the BRZ tS since I'm planning on getting the aftermarket Bilstein setup, but I do want the transmission and engine mounts.

Went a little crazy on her with the race car team. RCE Tarmac 0's, Cusco RLCA, and Rays 57Xtremes wrapped in 245 PSS's. All done in about 2 hours.

I hear because of the progressive spring rate of the Bilstein that they're GREAT for ride comfort. They're just not what one would consider "competitive", so if one is going to actually race, they'd want something else. Although I do drive my car as if I'm always racing, I still want something more streetable. Because I don't drive like I'm trying to beat others. That's a fairly futile endeavor in this car. I drive as an expression of my enjoyment for life.

See! One day I'll make my Tour of America more official. I've already done the Western Tour (May 2013), so I'm hoping to do the Eastern Tour during Summer of 2016. You'll know about it for sure!
