Paint defect FROM DAY OF DELIVERY!

Alright everyone, I went to a local dealership back in 2013 when I bought the car. I test drove it on a Tuesday and everything was great. Car looked perfect no defects, nothing (As expected buying new). I was trading in an 06 Jeep Wrangler, and a 2009 Kawasaki Ninja ZX6-R at the time. They wouldn't give me what I wanted for a trade so I told them I'd talk to them when they decided to work with me a little better. The first trade in values were almost insulting (AS EXPECTED).
GO-FIGURE! That following Friday they called me with a much higher offer on both my jeep and bike.
After I asked to talk to the initial salesman I had dealt with, I got a quick reply of ,"Well after you left on Tuesday, We found out this wasn't the place for him to be working at". I asked if it was my fault because no one wants anyone losing an income over them. They assured me that, that was not the case.
So I got with a new salesman and asked to look over the car again before I made such a purchase. When looking over it I found 3 rather large scratches on it. One being on the roof, one on the pillar right about the drivers side back window, and one being on the trunk.
When I pointed this out they said they would get it REPAINTED and FIXED. Of course me being a customer in the category of "Scratch and dent section of an appliance store", I asked for money off or another one WITHOUT the damages. Their reply was "Well with the Scion Pure Price yadda yadda yadda". So I lost that discount LOL. But since it was the ONLY Raven colored one in all of Arizona I was made to deal with it. So I had them "FIX" it. Man the quality of work was like a 6/10. I can see the runs and grit marks. I can see it because I know its there. But no one else seems to notice it.
But moral of the story is, don't sign for ANYTHING until you get exactly what you want as far as a purchase. I signed and now I'm not happy that it was done that way. I LOVE THE CAR! I REALLY DO! I just feel a little salty about the situation.

Has anyone had dealership issues such as this?

And BTW if you are in the Tucson, Arizona area, STAY AWAY FROM DESSERT TOYOTA!!!

That really sucks...

Hopefully it doesn't spoil the car for you...and it ends up being something that bothers you down the road.

A. I dont classify this as a paint "defect" as the scratches were more than likely put there after the car was painted.

B. If all this happened in 2013 why are you just now posting about how unhappy you are?

C. There should be a warranty on the work done, especially if at a dealer. Why havent you had them fix it?

funny..I had visible scratch on my 2013 DGM BRZ at the time of delivery on the trunk. the dealer offered to fix it for me. I just applied Zanio and the scratch disappeared and never returned. (there was no way I was going to allow the dealer to "fix it". Knew that the end result would have been a ton of swirl marks!)

Yea I agree this is not really a defect more like a bad dealer experience and if you were unhappy why not speak up then and demand a better paint blend? Sounds like unless you are they documented it they will not have repair it now.

A year ago, I was about to sign all the paper work and stuff and buy this certain WRB BRZ when i noticed a LONG scratch on it. i was like wth. and then asked if they had another one. they then brought me into the back, this one only had 6 miles on it, and plastic over certain parts (compared to the front one with 40 miles) looking at it more, it also had a couple scratches, (smaller than the first one) The guy said that it was the shipping guys, and all of them have scratches... ( i didn't completely believe him) but they were small enough scratches and I couldn't feel them so i knew my detailer would be able to get them out.

of course the dealer lied to me. saying "dont worry, we'll take care of it! we will call you and our detailer will fix it for free" I said okay. one week later, no call. one month later, no call. at that point i said screw you guys, had my detailer do it properly for a few hundred bucks. the sales guy was chill, but too chill. he asked me to fill out a customer survey so he could essentially get a bigger bonus. I was going to, but didn't since he didn't deliver.

so in short. I really do think they all have scratches from shippers. just pick the ones that have light surface ones that can be polished out.

Ya crap happens when cars get shipped but a good dealer will take care of the issues before even putting the car up for sale.

I sort have the reverse story. My car was the showroom car with all the dealer/TRD add ons on it. Went to a couple of different locations (tint and bra), had a pile of stuff added at the dealer's shop and then sat in the show room for 3 months. God only knows how many people climbed in, under and around it, leaned on it, bumped it and let their bratty kids play around it for all that time. I didn't look too close when bargaining (was fearful and didn't want to know) but went over every inch when I took delivery. If there had been any marks from it's travels and time sitting there I could no longer find them. I found one very, very small corner of the clear bra that was lifted slightly and they brought the detail guy out and he fixed it right on the spot.

I noticed a a small scratch on my roof where the accentuation is a few months after owning my car. Didn't think to look there. Anyway, polished it and 50% went away. I am getting ready to do a full self-detailing job. Should get rid of the rest of it since it is in the clearcoat. I would never let the dealership take it back and try to fix it. Nobody sees it and it's hard for me to find it at times. Lesson learned when I buy my next car.

1) Paint damage. Deal with it or get another car.
2) Dessert Toyota doesn't sound yummy at all.

So you knew there were scratches, signed the papers anyways and now you're bitching about it two years later...
