My last DD had AVG MPG, Current MPG, Fuel Used, and Distance Remaining. It also had "Avg Speed" which I liked since that helps with the correlation of driving to MPG. Of course, I guess I can't expect this car to be as high tech as 2001 Chevy Astro.

My legacy has too many fuel efficiency gauges and readouts. Though one I'll miss is the analog gauge. It would swing from negative to positive depending on your current mpg in relation to your average mpg. So you could glance down and instantly know whether you were hurting or improving your average.
Being numbers-oriented, I thought that was cool.

This AVG MPG technology will be pretty sweet, let alone a working fuel gauge! |

I'd say BMW & M/B do, but European cars have good systems for this.

Ferraris have the worst way of showing when you are going to be empty. They have some stupid little bars that just go down and you have no idea of know how much is left on the last bar
![]() Last year while doing the Bullrun rally my friend and I had a sick stretch of road where we were pushing his LP640 up to 180+mph for quite some time and then we realized we were in the middle of nowhere. We were able to limp it to a gas station 12 miles away with a 0 reading on miles left to go. |

I ran out of gas one time, somehow I thought I thought I could make it 80 miles to my exit even though the gas light was already on. Fortunately I ran out at the top of a hill and there was a service station at the bottom of the hill so I put it in neutral and coasted right up to the pump

To hell with MPGs. I would have liked range to empty instead. My Kawasaki had that feature, my Ducati has that feature, and my TL has that feature.
Range to Empty is even more useful than a fuel gauge!

Sadly, not in my Lancer. Once you hit 30 miles left (roughly 1 gallon), it just blanks out...fairly useless when it matters most. The Lancer is the only car I've owned that's had the miles to empty on it, so knowing the MPG and size of the tank I've pretty much always just calculated it in my head.

All three vehicles I mentioned go all the way down to zero. I almost to find out the hard way a couple of times! The nice thing is that they each display range dynamically; so you can see your range increase if you drive more gently, or drop if you feel like putting traffic behind you.

Lol my dad had that van, his avg speed on the indicator was 59.6 mph over 287000 miles... Which is fast, avg speed is based off when the engine is turned on till the engine stops, includes sitting in fraffic, drive throughs ect...

I hope it switches to gallons per hour when you're idling, that is good information to know. Speaking of which, any current owners able to chime in on this? Does it just say 0.0mpg when you're stopped, or does it give you gph? |

Even when checked it over highway trips, the second you pulled off for gas, the avg would drop significantly. |
