DCT Evo X (MR) weren't uncommon to have MSRP sticker price of $53k in Canada. We got screwed with those, paying a lot more for them than Americans for seemingly no reason. Not even discrepancy in our dollar VS U.S. comes close to explaining close to $10k more of a premium. In fact all I saw MR's at was 49-53k. Which is ridiculous. The final MY2015 Evo X have or had specials going on allowing people to get into brand new 5MT GSR's for $38k.
I know that isn't really relevant to this. But ~320hp/AWD and the options available I seriously doubt any will actually sell at that price. And nvm dealer mark up and the "novelty" pricing (which I've seen put '15 F150s at $85k msrp). The options - which can put a regular MY2015 face lift Focus to $30k - such as sunroof (aka useless), heated/cooled seats, heated mirrors, heated steering wheel, cameras, sensors, nav, sound system, ... On another note, I was in a regular '15 Focus the other day and had a look at the floor behind the front seats, and to my delight saw what looked like a bit of a tunnel for what would've been a driveshaft. |

I wonder if they can keep this thing under 3500lbs. The ST is over 3200lbs... AWD isn't going to improve that condition.

I'm a little worried about this aspect. All the new cars I've bought in the last 10 years had fixed prices set by the company website. When I bought my MCS in '05 the salesperson said "Go on the website, choose your options, print out your summary and we'll order that car and you'll pay that price".
My BRZ was the same way. I've never bought from a domestic dealership before but I've heard about the "special markup".

The awd system in this supposedly only adds 45lbs which is hard to believe. The drive shaft is most of that unless cf/aluminum. Rear, front, and center diff...axles...rotating mass. |

They might be subtracting the weight of the spare and such that's removed to make space for the read end running gear. No center diff so it won't be as heavy as a normal AWD system.

its a good point you bring up. Is losing things like a center diff worth the weight? we can speculate as fanboys one way or another but its interesting. how does it shift up to 70% of power rearward without a diff, braking?

It's basically the GKN system developed for the Evoque it seems. http://www.prnewswire.com/news-relea...278375981.html So basically a brake and disconnect attached directly to the transaxle. It's "sorta" a center diff but not really. Wherever the power goes, the torque vectoring is done by the brakes up front and the diff in the rear. Sucks that they continued to use brake torque vectoring up front but hopefully that will be less of an issue since power can go to the rear now. I do wonder how long the parts in the PTU and the RDU will last though..... especially with heavy track use. I've sure they picked this system/format for packaging more than any other consideration. They had to redesign the rear floor pan already to fit the rear bits in which is a major expense so I'm sure they limited that as much as possible.

Dealer markup and limited numbers, I doubt it will be cheaper than a STI.
I went to two ford dealerships in so-cal. Both of them did not have focus st or fiesta st. I asked them when they would get some in, the response from one was "I don't know, the mustang gt is over here." and the other was "why don't you get the hybrid?" The ugly interior killed it for me, and the rear seats did not fold down in the focus without removing the headrests. |

I wish the interior was actually upgraded. I'm more interested in the new AWD system than the car though. Hopefully the Fusion SHO will have this AWD system too.
