Well, it's still too cold for autocross here in Illinois. Some of us still managed to get our racing fix though!

Thanks again, @TRev! Space is starting to become an issue though. :P

If you don't have an EIN usually I believe your Social Security number is what you'd put.

Likewise I ran the Primacy's at my second event with the car in 35 degree temps and took second in class to a two driver (helped to heat tires up) M3 on RS3s. My only other mod was camber bolts. Pretty much the entire class of 11 cars was on "better" tires. In my opinion the Primacy's are better tires than most people give them credit for.

My big gripe with the Primacy was the upper end of its heat range was far too low for my climate. By 2nd run they would be greasy. By 3rd run the car was so loose I thought I broke something and abandoned the run - to date the only time I've been scared in this car. Begged for a water sprayer before my 4th run and it got better but still required a lot of wheel work to keep pointed the right way.
You do learn a lot about the car on that tire, and it's probably a good tire for conditions where you won't exceed its heat range. In 40 degree weather, I'd still prefer a "real" tire plus some tire covers between runs, and then I'd use my first couple of runs strategically to work on tire temps. |

I know this has been discussed a lot, but I'm still back and forth on it.
235/45 vs. 245/40 ZII*, is the extra 1/2" of tread width worth it? I know 245/40 is a lot of tire for a 7" wheel, but these are going to be used almost exclusively for autocross events and to drive to/from the events. They MIGHT see some other road use for club cruises this year, but I'm not 100% on that yet. This is my first time buying a good set of performance tires for any sort of racing, so all input is appreciated. I'm trying to be fairly competitive this season, locally, and run at least one national event.

it's not really the weight issue you should be worried about, but the response. against all conventional logic the 245 seem to deliver the most absolute grip at the expense of response, this means to truly utilize their potential you're gonna have to be very trusting of the car and your inputs, because you're not gonna get quite the same feedback and generally feel like the car is being unresponsive

I actually made some edits to my post. I'm looking at 235/45 vs 245/40 and realized that the weight is the same, at least according to tirerack.

45 profile on Dunlop was reported to be "floppy" in the past Z2s. Hopefully the SS are stiffer. I have run the 245/40 and they work fine. 235/40 would feel the best, imo...but just can understand why they cost so much!!!

Yeah, I was thinking about those but that $100 price jump is pretty ridiculous. Granted, I've never driven on really nice tires so anything is going to feel a lot better to me coming from Primacy HPs. haha
