I did the same thing and tested out a Cayman shortly before the BRZ. Now, as devil's advocate to your devil's advocate, I had the opposite impression! Driving a Cayman followed by a BRZ helped me realize that the twins are 8/10s a Cayman for half the price. The Cayman is obviously better, but the twins are a damn good value by comparison.

I'll probably still wind up in a 911 or Cayman one day, but for now the BRZ is just fine .

No doubt about our car being 8/10 of a Cayman.
There are just little things that annoy me with our(my) car.
For the first year I ignored them but this last year they are bugging me more and more.
Plus since I came into a bunch of unexpected cash now I can afford to get the full 10/10.

First-gen Miata, no contest. Huge disappointment.

I wasn't expecting speed, and I didn't get any. That's fine. What I was expecting was a car that felt light, didn't roll around too much. Somehow, a 2200 pound roadster hefts itself about like a 3300 pound sedan. Not to mention, it really should have skid plates on the door handles: body roll is nauseating. A tiny sportscar that doesn't handle properly is a tragedy.

(of course, add nice coilovers and its the bee's knees)

Nismo Juke, black, FWD, CVT w/ paddles. Seats and steering wheel are great! Interior is still meh but for < $30k you can't complain.

Torque steer is crazy for 210hp and there is nearly no steering feel. Its still a Juke and has hilarious "darty" driving characteristics. But I had a horrible experience maneuvering in snow - and it was using continental conti-pro contact tires that a lot of manufacturers use as OEM's and on other applications such as '15 Focus, '15 Jetta, '15 Escape, etc. I had no problem driving around. On the Juke they were like summer tires.

So the suspension and steering really need attention, as it currently is other than aesthetic enhancements - its an embarrassment to Nissan Motorsports.

The FWD bias AWD is far and between, and I don't think Nismo's even get it. Manual transmission is only available with the FWD drivetrain, I know that for certain.

Now, Nissan should give me one of these cars for letting them in on potential improvements they could make.

It was never a sharp, darty, stiff sports car from factory. The NB however they improved upon quite a bit (better suspension, stiffer chassis) and a common upgrade for NA's is to bolt on NB suspension.

Also consider its 25+ years old - the chassis is tired and floppy. Even more-so due to being a convertible. The suspension isn't the greatest design either, but works due to the cars light weight and small size.

Flyin' Miata stage II suspension kit that converts it to NB, decent 195 tires on light 15s, and chassis bracing is what one needs if they want to be even somewhat competitive/have the sharp sports car feel.

Spec miatas are faster then slightly modified frs in the corners. But anything less is just meh in comparison. Frs is by far a better starting platform though and I won't get into looks lol.

When my FRS broke I had a Versa Note as a rental (which I had to return because warranty refused). I was super depressed about my FRS and driving that thing didn't help at all. I just parked it and drove my crusty $400 truck instead.

Its not a matter of high expectations its more a matter of a car that lacked any soul, passion or inspiration. The car felt as if it was designed by people who hated cars and driving. To me, that's unforgivable at any price level.

Well, the question was about being disappointed. Therefore, it is a matter of expectations, regardless of them being high or low.
I understand your point. Thanks for the clarification.

But that's wut it's design to do...... But versa in Japan is cool thou( well cooler) better interior & 3 doors only. Versa was never designed to be 4 door. I remember seeing it and think God damn ugly pos for fat American. Lol
