whats the point of that metal intake tubing? Its still attached to the stock air filter box.

That intake seems gimmicky to me. This is one of few cars where I wouldn't mess with the factory airbox as it looks more than efficient enough. I do want to eliminate the sound tube, though.

I think you are right on track. It is not uncommon for the factory induction system to be more efficient then many of the "warm air" intake systems offered. An aftermarket intake can also cause issues with the MAF's ability to properly monitor in comming air.

I think as time prevails you will start to see better designs and after some testing has been done you will have a better idea of what you are looking for. I like to have other people do the testing when it comes to intricate parst on a N/A engine. Headers are another part, where you want some analyisis, to decide whether or not the performance factor is there or basicly just aestitic.
