You guys all live on flat plains though. I assume I will get closer to EPA estimates considering how hilly it is here.

6AT FR-S first tank fuel economy

Filled up the first time this morning. Note that I do NOT know if this first tank was regular or premium. I was there when the dealer filled it up, but frankly didn't think to check. Since there is only one marking on the inside of the fuel cap cover that says Premium Fuel Only, I'm guessing it was Regular.

MPG over 308 miles was 29.38, mixed city/hwy, but probably a 65/35 split. Also included probably 10 to 15 minutes of total time at pure idle (showing people the car, listening to the engine, etc).

My city driving is a lot of stop and go, many stoplights.

My last DD had a 289K lifetime rating of 17.5MPG and used regular fuel. Based on that, on this one tank of gas, I've saved $20.77 over my last DD even with the price difference in fuel!

I'm a little disappointed the car does not have an Avg Speed display. My 2001 Astro (last DD) had that as well as Fuel Remaining. Avg. Speed over 289K miles was 35.7 on it.

I've had 2 tanks of gas with around 26 mpg. Most of it because of stupid 405 traffic in Seattle.

Consumer Reports has done extensive testing with city vs highway and the consensus is most cars can meet or beat the EPA numbers on the highway, but it is hard to achieve EPA in the city.
this is why i am interested in the responses to threads like this. i find EPA numbers much less useful than what people are getting in real mixed driving. and yes a persons driving style impacts those results greatly, which is why i am looking more at the averages and trends of peoples responses. i would say keeping it below 4k rpm (which i believe is break in rule) reflects average driving, true it wont factor in the few on ramp redlines that are inevitable later on, but as far as a whole tank average they will end up being close, or at least still more indicative than epa numbers.

I finally filled up this afternoon. I did 348 miles on 11.08 gallons, so 31.4 mpg. I'll keep track of it during the coming weeks to verify it. Also, once I finish the break-in period I'm sure it will go down some.

From the sounds of it, it won't change too much, or might even be better than my current car. My mazda 626 gets about 24.5mpg on a regular basis. I always refill it at a quarter tank, which is roughly 300 miles driven. So this is good to know, especially with the premium gas.

Tach and MPG readings at highway speeds

If you want to know about tach and MPG readings at highway speeds I performed this little experiment yesterday at 55/60/70 MPH as documented on my Owners Log. Of course, YMMV and all that sort of thing.

You guys ever use www.fuelly.com? I'd suggest you track your fill ups there. It makes it a lot easier for others to see what you're getting over a range of time as well as fuel costs and other metrics.

I have a brz 2015. It has about 950 miles.. Does average mpg gets better with time? I feel like my brz consumes a lot of gas. Dash says is 23.9mpg, how accurate is that?
