I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought they were Australian; their marketing back in the early 2000s (especially with the Baja, since the Aussies love their utes) made it hard to tell haha.

I've had people ask if my car is a 2 door WRX.

I just feel that wether it's a Lexus, Toyota or Scion, they come from "the same plant" (trying to think of a witty metaphore or expression... none come to mind )

I do respect this argument, and I think it's only now that I read it the way you wrote it that I can say that I do. I previously thought it sounded ridiculous to have pride in a badge as I would try comparing that argument to someone having pride in wearing Banana Republic instead of Gap. It's not so much that you prefer Banana Republic over Gap, but that you've been accustomed to it (flame me if you want over this ridiculous example . Probably the worst example possible...).
This might be the most confusing response I've ever read lol.

I'm glad we can agree though... or do we? Still not sure

Let me put it this way: I like wearing Nike shoes. I've always liked Nike shoes for their good looks, durability and brand image (aside from that whole child sweat shop fiasco, a.k.a. "unintended acceleration" for Toyota). Sure, I've worn other shoes and they were OK, but when looking for a new pair of shoes that I know I will enjoy, I start with the Nike section.

I steer clear of the Skechers section entirely. They just don't appeal to me and I don't feel like I fall into their target demographic.

If Nike bought Skechers and made a badass shoe with the Skechers logo to try and pump up the brand, I'd just cut the Skechers logo off and sew on a Nike check haha

The badge and the cars were just so Australian like! Just thinking about off road used to make me think of Australia. lol I really wanted a Baja before, seemed like a fun adventure car.

I deserved that one

In the end though, we disagree but I respect that your opinion is wrong

In the Japanese Domestic Market, it's just simply called "Toyota 86" (Pronounced eight-six, not eighty-six)
Isn't it called a GT86 in Australia?

I rebadged mine because out side of North America, Scion does not exist. Also I am pretty sure my Ownership/Insurance says Toyota FR-S lol

It is sold worldwide under three different brands with respective model names:
  • Toyota 86 in Asia, South Africa, South America and Australia; GT86 in Europe; both of the preceding names in New Zealand; FT86 in Jamaica;
  • Subaru BRZ worldwide;
  • Scion FR-S in the United States and Canada.

Hope this helps.

Why the F does the exact same car have 5 different names ... 2 makes sense, 5 is a bit much.

I have a black FRS and the silver badges and "86 pistons" stuck out like a sore thumb. Maybe $10 and an hour later and they were plastidipped black. New plain black plate holder and the dealer decal peeled off, cleaned and spot waxed.

What fanboy am I ??? Do I put TRD or STI stickers on the back for more horsepower? If my car is a Scion, all I got is "Ken Gushi seems like a nice young man."

As the badges are all black on black now, people just have to know. They do. When springtime comes, more blackouts in the works.

I removed the silver "Subaru" and "BRZ" lettering and replaced my silver plate cover with a plain black one too. I don't like all that silver on my white black and red car. It's a big cosmetic improvement IMO. I left the Subaru badge just so people will know it's not a Scion : P

I considered painting the lettering black and putting it back on, but I'm too lazy to bother.
