Regardless, AAFES urine will NOT be going into the fuel tank.

hopefully you have an easier time than me. no one registers new cars here, and they couldnt comprehend that it had no previous owner, took me like 2 weeks. also, bummer for you guys have shitty gas, we get high octane from out in town up here. just checked a purchase receipt last week, 99.6 RON.

I already fought through all that and had to buy a three month insurance policy just so base would stamp the stupid worksheet. my normal insurance company wouldn't do the policy without a number plate on the car and base wouldn't budge without PDI on the car and I can't get plates without the paperwork from them, classic catch 22.

I got the shakken policy no worries because I had the paper from Subaru with the shatai bango and the engine codes and all that junk. Subaru is going to finish it up. The only question is if they need a shakoshomei for it. If they do, I can give them one so it's a minor hassle, but my GT-R is Y plated and it doesn't have one and nobody seems to care.

They say it's hioc, but I don't trust them. I've seen too many cars start to run funny after sipping from a base pump. Only my Hijet drinks that crap. Everything else is off-base hioc only.

whats the shakenshomei? is that like the saftey/roadworthy inspection? by japanese law its not required, but the base wouldnt give me the paperwork to get the y plate without it. Places out in town wouldnt even do the test even if i paid them. that was another couple weeks to sort out. it was a nightmare.

yeah, on base no parking permit, off base you require it. i dont know all the correct japanese names of any of the stuff, sadly. the thing i had issues with is the actualy shaken inspection.(road worth/saftey/illegal mods) which obviously wouldnt be needed for a car strait off the line.

Yeah shako shomei, parking permit. I live miles from base. A few years ago it was a hot topic, but nobody seems to care anymore. Back then I was in a village and they had no requirement, but getting that knucklehead airman to understand that was a real struggle. Even the Japanese LTO guy didn't know that until I called his boss over who said "he can park a damned bus in a village!"

Back a few years ago when they where trying to enforce the gaijin's to get the parking permit.... if you didn't live within 2k's of a Military installation you had to get the parking permit. (this is for SOFA personnel only)

All JDM'ers have to get the shakoshomei for the most part, the exception if its a Kei or you live in on of the villages that didn't require it.. aka.. in the middle of no where but I think that has even changed lately.

Yeah, they need that parking certificate. Luckily I got one. I have to wait an extra week, though.

Need to get used to the roads here first though, been living here 3 years on trains and buses, haven't driven a car since i left the UK! (Celica ST185 RC) so i'm bound to be rusty, and overcautious of cyclists for a short while!
