I'm not registered for any upcoming events at Laguna. Which day were you referring to?

Looking at events closer to you, I might do Buttonwillow on March 7 with Speedventures but I realize that might be too late for you.

one question. does it feel just as comfortable as they were with the 343lb springs, or is it now at that uncomfortable/track smooth surface only setting? i would assume with proper valving, it would still be very comfortable.
Laguna Seca would not be a good place to test suspension comfort...lol. You can go 30kg/mm springs and still feel the suspension is smooth.

Hey guys,

Shocks are off now and looking to have them serviced. No re-valving just a winter tune-up.

We got quotes here, but I'm curious what this service costs in the states. I'll be visiting in a few weeks and considering bringing them back if there's a big price difference.

Thanks in advance

Just curious, has anyone tried using 7" springs? (instead of the OEM 8") For example, these Swift 7" springs in something like a 7kg/9kg (F/R) spring rate:
http://www.swiftsprings.net/products...prings-65.html

The rears will need to be revalved but I'm just wondering about ride height and suspension travel with these stiffer 7" springs. With 8" springs, the car can't be lowered much as the spring rate gets up to 7.5kg and up.

We ran 450 lbs/in 7 inch Hyperco springs all around without issue. Loved the Ohlins with that set-up.

Did you guys use helper springs to help lower the car? I'm running 7 inch Hyperco springs all around right now and have the rear ride height as low as it can go. Not sure if it is low enough to get the camber I want in the rear so I'm considering going to the helper springs depending on the results of the alignment.

For me, I'm going to get the camber I want in the rear via RLCA.

As far as I'm concerned, there's 3 ways to get camber in the rear with Ohlins:

1) shorter springs
2) adjustable lower control arm (Whiteline or similar) or camber arm (SPC or similar)
3) adjustable lower control arm that also lowers the rear (Stance, etc)

With the rear at max lowering, I have around 1.5 degrees static negative camber.

With the 7" springs and Ohlins, what spring rate are you running front and rear? What's the ride height like? Can you get to one inch lower than stock height? My main concern is not lowering the car too much.

I'm running 650lbs/in in the front and 750 in the rear. The front's can be lowered quite a ways, but the rear can only be dropped about 15mm. I think the way I have it set up now it is pretty close to the default height of the Ohlins, but I'm not quite sure, waiting on seeing alignment results as my judgement of the right ride height in the rear will be based on how much camber I get.

Nope. Check our Facebook...the later pictures of our BRZ are on Ohlins. Its not super low but we get an inch or so.

Do you mind linking the picture? I went through your FB page but I wasn't sure which was the picture with 450 lbs/in 7" springs.

Also, what was the ride height adjustability range (roughly) when on these springs?

Btw, I thought I should note ( as a lurker ) - I have a 2008 Miata that has had Ohlin DFV's since 6k on the odometer.

Currently at 113k. Never been rebuilt, but the spherical bearings rattle like mad now. They still work fantastic and the car is driven hard.

For those who are interested, when I spoke to Ohlin's in the spring for just an OEM rebuild, it was $700, + shipping.

I've had the Öhlins on for less than 10k km and I am starting to have some serious rattling coming from the rear left. I thought something wasn't tightened back properly when the shocks were mounted...

But @stormhammer, you got me googling around and it seems it is not an uncommon issue.

Anyone experiencing that on their twin and found a way to fix it?
