System Diagnostics Say R-Cam and USB NG

I'm installing a backup camera.

Subaru BRZ 2014 limited automatic.
Roadshop HD1401 camera.
96SVX cable.

Great instructions from Runnyyolk Following them pretty much to the letter.

I get the head unit to recognize the camera, and then after the install, the head unit doesn't display the camera in reverse. It's just like the camera was not installed, or if the reverse gear signal wasn't there. I checked all the connections again, and especially the ground. I even pulled a TV out to the garage so I could test the camera and it's OK.

Then I found the systems diagnostic page (Three buttons below the volume knob, press for three seconds). It says my rear-camera and USB are no good. Everything else tests fine.

Has anyone seen this before? Any way to reset this? At this point I'm pretty sure this is my problem.

Thanks, Chris

Did a little more research on this.

The navigation unit runs more screens than the Golden State Warriors. Just saying.

The car is an automatic.

System Check --> Failure Diagnosis, the error messages are
Rr_CAM NG
USB NG

Disconnected power to the camera and reset, and the System check came back NG.

Getting out of Failure Diagnosis, I go to Setup --> Settings. I can see that the head unit is getting the signal for the reverse gear, but not the parking brake. I didn't get the Svxdc cable with the parking brake signal, so that's normal. I disconnected the camera at the head unit and replaced the stock grey wire cable, and the head unit sensed the parking brake.

So my theory now is that the automatic needs the signal from the parking brake, and maybe the MT doesn't/ I'm not sure how I got it to work in the very beginning, but without knowing how to trouble shoot the Rf-CAM message, I don't have a better idea.

I'm trying to contact Dave at 96SVX. I'll keep you posted.
