Should i buy this used 2013 BRZ?

2013 used BRZ

I have a 2010 ford fusion thats all paid off and i can get about $7000 in trade in value.

My current monthly expenses are $250 for rent, about $30-50 for utilities, $87 cell phone, $120 for students loan bill. I just started working in IT and i make 31k a year before taxes. I got an insurance quote for $184 from progressive.

Should i jump in or not?

Probably not. I think the if it isn't abundantly clear as to whether you can afford it or not, just wait.

After taxes you're making ~ $2000/mo. After all bills listed, including progressive, you're left with ~$1300/mo. add into that fuel and food / groceries, you're about $900/mo

My used 2013 is $286/mo (I paid $21,151 after all gap, added warranties)

so let's assume high, $350. That leaves you $550/mo

As long as you aren't swimming in debt and can manage finances well enough, I'd say you could afford it. My resoning: I afford it on $1500/mo income with $350/mo rent. only difference is my insurance will be $145/mo since I am changing companies from state farm ($175/mo currently)


ALL THIS SAID::: Buy for you. If you want it, you should work to get it. If you only think you want it, you should stay car payment free and buy a puppy, or go kart, or small etheopian child to make use of the money. Hope the information helps

If you're asking, no. Pay off other debts first and drive the Fusion until it cannot be driven any more (within financial reason).

What are the chances, in the next 5 years, that another car comes out, more exciting than a BRZ? Quite high.

Its insightful advice.

I was in his situation a few years ago, waited until this past summer and pulled the trigger on a car I could buy outright. I think its the right thing to do.

This isn't an infinite loop of waiting, I'm suggesting waiting a few years to establish himself better in his career/pay down student loans.

hahaha This is why I added the note about the small etheopian child. It got me out of the crosshairs.

The advice you are providing is sound and I agree with it. Ultimately the OP's decision, but you are using forsight vs fun-sight. I bought my vehicle because of a collision with a dresser which fell off a vehicle in front of my 2007 impreza. If that never happened, I'd still have my paid off car and though I'd wish I owned an FRS, I'd still love my car and extra $300/mo

Always save up enough till u have enough cash on hand. I know its temping but don't fall for temptation.

Especially with a car like this, u are gonna spend extra $$$ on mod here and there.

31k is about right for entry level helpdesk, depending upon locale.

Speaking of which, where the heck is rent only $250-$350 a month?!? I can barely find a place for twice that in Amish Country, PA.
