Here we go again. Obama and the media are focusing on issues like gay marriage when the country is in several wars and on the verge of a complete economic collapse. As far as I know, it's not the job of the federal government to deal with marriage anyway so it should be handled at a state-level.

Since I consider marriage to be a legal term instead of a religious one I see no problems with gay marriage.

Really, what difference does it make in my life if two people (MM, MF or FF) get married? And what is the difference in my life between a someones MF marriage and a someones MM/FF marriage?

I've never been able to figure out why it's an issue unless you bring religion into it. If those two people love each other, regardless of my opinions/beliefs on that subject, then I don't see why they shouldn't get the same legal benefits as a man and a woman who get married.

To make things more off topic, anyone else find it a coincidence that Obama declared his support for gay-marriage 2 days after major gay donors threatened to withhold contributions?

Personally I don't mind them and I like to think that I can keep a pretty level head and engage in discourse without it breaking down into name calling and threats. However it has been proven in the past that there are people who can't do that.
Well, this is the off topic side of the forum so i dont think we need a separate section for it.

In my opinion, if somone doesnt like the topic or subject then that person shouldnt get involved in the discussion. simple as that.
If you dont like it, dont be a part of it.

Dont know if you noticed but this happens to be the OFF TOPIC section of the forums.

Aside from that... Paq isn't going to vote anyways. He's also probably doing this as a publicity stunt
Idk, Pac has always been a religious person (im not against or mad at).

I also do not believe this is a stunt, because I dont think he would do this to "help" his career. I think this hurts him more because he may lose some gay phillipino and gay fans. Bob Arum will probably tell him to cool it down from now on especially since they're having issues getting a Pacman/Mayweather fight in the future. I feel Pacman just got a little too political and didnt think this through.

I mentioned that in the first post, but he does have SOME influence on people here. There are many who follow his career and thus hear his ideology, so it CAN affect people's views but not as strongly if someone else had said it.

this is a slightly narrow minded point of view, it may not be his business but we are all free to express our concerns, I wouldn't tell you not to comment on people trafficking in Columbia, because you are not Colombian. We are all equal parts of MAN-kind, it's not like they gave him a vote in congress...

I wouldn't go so far as to exert effort to support gay marriage, but I can see no clear reason it should matter to anyone outside of the marriage, who marries who. regardless about how you feel about what they do behind closed doors.....

I mean for christ sakes I don't want to see what happens behind closed doors with two fatties, any more than two men....for the women I'd bring popcorn and hope they need "help"

Not all Catholics are as conservative. But I do believe Liberal Catholics are trying to make Catholicism appear as if it is not as black and white as it truly is.

My 2cents:
I was raised catholic, went to catholic school, and went to church constantly when i was younger. As I got older I stop seeing religion as being important in my life so i became a bit more liberal, especially when I got into college. I noticed before I gave up on religion I was really conservative about issues like this and didnt really enjoy discussing them, but now that I've understood the other side I know (or feel like I know) what people are going through.

Manny can go suck a lemon. If you think marriage is a religious thing, then the government should just get out of it and stick to civil unions. Let the churches do their thing.

If you think the government should be handling marriage, we're all covered by the 14th amendment. Equal protection clause, mofos.

Frankly, I don't care what you believe, just don't push your beliefs on the rest of us.

Also, let's remember Manny P voted against contraception funding for poor women. For religious reasons. GTFOH. I bet, like many here in America, Manny is complaining about abortions at the same time as he's voting to restrict birth control. SMH.
