If they were serious about keeping this car in the lineup, they would let you mix and match and custom order your car. Not sure I'd pay 35K for an FR-S, though. When Scion does a RBR (Rocket Bozo Release) we will know the car is dead.

I had one today.

Rush hour traffic two highways merge together and one entry ramp on far right side that is also an exit ramp. The exit is about 600 feet after the 3 merge together.

I am on left highway merging into the main highway. Traffic crawls there at about 10mph.
The far right lane which is the entry/exit lane is practically empty and the cars that are in it are doing 40-50mph.
I have to go from far left to far right because I need to take that exit.
So I am in the 10mph traffic moving across lanes needing to get in that exit lane in less than 600 feet.
Once I get in the most right lane next to the exit lane I am still doing 10 mph because of traffic.
Now I have to time my entry to the next lane perfect because those cars are going 40-50mph.
Lowest gear I can go into is second.
Well there is the f_cking dip and I am flooring the sh!t out of my car to get up to speed fast. It takes way too long to get out of that dip and up to speed.

They'll just try to go into a broader market by converting the car to a bit more "premium" image.
We know a refresh is coming next model year and a Gen. II after that. How much different it'll be will fuel dozens of threads between now and then. Looking back, the changes between generations of their last boutique model, MR2, were major. Only the drivetrain layout remained the same. I'm hoping for big things while they keep the fundamentals like light weight, low cost and f/r intact.

I don't see a difference in the "regular" updates.

I do like the CB though, reminds me of classic british roadsters/Aston Martins. When I first got my fr-s I thought a nice billet grill would look cool.

Dude, slow down and double clutch into first, slowing down from 10 mph to 5 mph (I've gotten into first at 10 mph, 5 mph is cake) isn't going to get you rear ended and you'll be creating space to get a run at it, flooring it from first to second up to 50 mph should take like 5-6 seconds.

And since you know the commute so well you could just shift into first a couple hundred feet beforehand when the traffic stops (I'll bet that it happens more often than not).

Planning yo, that's the fun bit of this car for most of us. You can't break bones with a scapel but you can still kill with it.

You could also feather the clutch from 10 mph up to 25-30 keeping the revs up to stay in the powerband, but people bitch about replacing clutches sooner than every 200k miles for some reason...

FYI, Cyberstork is a company in Japan that markets alternate gauge face designs. They are basically a film that can be installed in place of stock gauge facing. They would have supplied the special gauge face design for the Toyota Cb package. Low volume models will use outsourced parts.

At 10mph in 2nd gear, your engine is revving at 1229RPM assuming stock gearing, tires, etc in a 6MT FR-S. Diesels are about the only vehicles that accelerate quickly from 1300RPM.

or electric vehicles. Which are eerie to drive at first. Ford CMax, Chevy Volt make like 300lb-ft instantly.

A preparation for 2nd generation. They did it before. They presented the 1st generation a year before its production as a prototype and they said that this is almost what they'll give us.

Neither, it is a special edition that we may not even get here. No announcement from Scion North America yet which would sort of say we aren't.
