Couple of weeks ago, in Arizona, my speedometer briefly read 142. Jeez that was fun. It was a test to see if the car is well planted...and surely it is.
That was on my way back home to Eureka, from the place pictured. Now over 11k miles on my four month old 2015 FRS. (Most recent road trip was 8469.2mi.) Recent trip MPG per car's computer...32.9 going east, 31.2 for overall trip...including city driving. Most freeway driving was up to 10mph over the limit, and west Texas has 80mph limit. 93 octane fuel used Texas and east of it. No such available west of Texas. I did drive in snow in west Texas one afternoon. Ever drive 55 in an 80mph zone ? Well I have now...lol. I also drove the car in high winds in the Laguna mtns. east of San Diego one day on Interstate 8. News channel said later that night, winds were up to 70mph that day. No problem observed driving the FRS in those conditions. My only complaints: Inherent blind spots, making lane changes difficult in traffic, and paint which chips easily on the road (freeway) driving. Is it a great road trip car ? Hell yes ! Note: Car had 16mi. on it as new to me...October 2, 2014. Car was already thoroughly tested, prior to trip, on twisty, rough roads, dirt roads, etc. in the lost coast area of Northern Cali. And I certainly did not observe any cautious break-in period prior to 500mi. as was advised. (I beat the piss out of the engine in high rpms from the get go). No oil burning observed so far. First Oil and filter done at a Scion Stealership in Florida at 7800mi. No problems to report at that time and also now at over 11k mi. Last edited by ToySub1946; 02-12-2015 at 12:30 AM. |

True story! One good winter on snow tires will teach you more about weight transfer and car control than five years just tooling around in the summer haha

Awesome idea with the Blue painters tape. Will be well worth it on track days.

Read on one thread that some guy puts it on all winter to prevent salt chips! I think it would be horrid getting it back off in the spring after it all drys out.

Although Key West is an offbeat destination, I love the more secluded Keys. Great beaches, snorkeling and SCUBA. One of the few places anywhere that you can dive off the beach, grab lobsters for dinner from the reef and grill them up on the beach while enjoying a tropical sunset. |

Under the snow squall bands, visibilities will be significantly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow, and snow will quickly accumulate. Snow squalls will develop in the northwesterly winds across Lake Huron overnight. Snow squalls may penetrate as far inland as London during Thursday or Thursday night. Local accumulations near 10 centimetres per 12 hours are possible and blowing snow could make travel hazardous. DetailsSnow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably, changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. If you must travel, keep others informed of your schedule and destination and carry an emergency kit and mobile phone. If you become stranded in a vehicle do not leave. The vehicle offers a form of protection from the cold. A single person walking through the snow is harder to find than a stranded car or truck. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight.
