Anyone in CA, TX, or southwest with a vin assigned???

Did ppl go this crazy when the GTR (R35) came out? How about for other cars? Or is it cuz now we're in the internetz age, where we can find out so much info instantaneously? I didn't even go this crazy when Star Craft 2 was about to launch. Went to the nerdy midnight launch though

Called my dealer, Santa Monica Subaru, for the first time to check on my order. I wasn't expecting much as I am #8 there, but was told that all their allocations are still waitlisted. I was looking forward to hearing that someone from my dealership would be receiving one soon, but nothin, lame.

just fyi, Davis CA is next to Sacramento, central California. There is no way a ship can get there unless you're talking about a bunch of boats river rafting BRZ to the town. I believe the port is the Richmond port, that's where the majority of the autos come in to the west coast.

I'm confused with what our dealer says anyways. They told me that it doesn't matter if you ordered first or last, and they don't know who's preorder is coming first. That's not what other dealers are telling people. Guess we just have to wait.

This makes sense in relation to my own experience. I pre-ordered on March 10th, #4 at my dealer at the time. I called for an update around April 15th, and my dealer told me I'd been bumped back to slot #6 or 7 in their system. NOW, after talking to them on 5/10, I'm confirmed to be #2 in their system without anyone else who ordered before me backing out of their pre-orders.

I think a lot of it has to do with whatever SOA decides to allocate to each dealer first, regardless of order date. The stock might just be that random from the Gunma plant at this point.

In north Texas, I called SoA yesterday, I'm #3 of 4 pre-orders from my dealer, still no VIN or ETA.

Yeah, I noticed that today. I thought the same thing when I talked to the SOA rep, but I just thought I'd pass along the info. It looks like it is the Richmond port. Like I mentioned before, the guy was a little confused about the ports, but not about the actual numbers and dates.

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum, wanted to say thanks to uspspro for the above tip! I was able to get my name down over the weekend for the Red Limited MT that became available due to someone backing out. Larry at Carlsen Subaru told me it would be one of the 18 cars they'd be receiving but that there was no particular order in which the cars would be coming into the dealership...ie, I could be number 3 or number 18 or whatever, similar to some of the stories that others are posting in this thread. One thing he did say is that he'd heard the first ship coming into Richmond CA contained approximately 40% automatic transmission cars, but he didn't know why the proportion was that high unless they were just getting through all the autos first before ramping up production of the manuals.

Anyway, thanks again everyone, glad I'm in the running now!

I worked with Edgar there. I think I was the 10th to order but I had 2 different sales men assure me that it didn't matter if you ordered first or last, as to when you may receive your car. It seems that is the case with some of these other people too. I actually will be happy once the dealer starts getting some even if it isn't my car.

Hey John I also ordered from sherman Oaks and yeah they are getting 10 allocated but there has been no new info from them. My salesman was Aram and pretty much when I called him he said that there was no new info and that the first BRZ would be coming by the end of the month. By the way I thought I was #10 on the list

Well, I just checked the allocation on here and it does say 10 now. When I ordered they were only getting 7 (I'm number 2)—I guess this goes back to the whole communication thing. They seemed really good when I first ordered, but getting them to call me back is near impossible. Hopefully we'll both have cars soon.
