M96 04

Fitment just confirmed we are also swapping the tranny to a g50 into the back with a custom Kevlar torque tube.

Found these guys. http://www.subarugears.com/

There are thousands of enthusiasts who regret never completing or even starting the project of their dreams. There are few who ever regret finishing one.

Since the G50 is designed for rear engine, wouldn't flipping it the other way reverse the gears as well?

If so, how are you/did you get around that?

Of course I could be wrong or missing something.

If I understand the linked site correctly, the gears are reverse cut so it rotates backwards.

That would be correct.

My middle school math teacher did this when he swapped an EJ207 into a VW vanagon. He outsourced it to someone in australia though.

That doesn't look like an M96 motor. 993 or 964 variant?

Actually, it looks like an older Carrera motor without twin plugs.

Pic is just proof of theory. Its 84' air cooled carerra 3.2 and that's not a G50 its connected to. My shaft design is longer. XD

People with V8 ideas have no clue how the gyroscopic effect of the engine hinders cornering. Feel how hard it is to corner a 1300cc bike versus a 600cc bike.

The porsche motor weighs a tad more but its evenly distributed rotating mass along the whole chassis. This allow it to have steering closer to that of a MR car.

This project will cost 20 grand installed and about 40 hour Fab time. Torque curve is flat. More reliable than a front heavy compound turbo/roots FA20. Its the only thing worth doing to this car. Think about how the little traction this car has. Small displacement High output FI engines are undrinkable. What this car needs is more rear weight and low RPM powerband. Its gonna drive like a 40 grand SLR BENZ.

There is a big Grand Canyon size gap between proof of theory and reality.

You would have to flip the trans around to be able to use it in a F/MR configuration.

I do have a G50/01 for sale if you would like to experiment though.

LOL it would be too low to flip it upside down. I was just gonna run custom cams and reverse the firing order.
