I was all gung-ho about wanting to install headers until I found that the primary cat resides there. I'll have to wait and see if a company develops headers either utilizing a cat or places the cat after the headers and offers some sort of tuning solution. Generally speaking, the closer to the engine the primary cat is, the cleaner the emissions. I'd hate to buy some poorly-conceived headers and promptly fail emissions testing.

Not to mention, if this is how the stock headers really are constructed, I don't see them getting much more efficient than they already appear to be:

I run high flow cats as well (although the one in my ITR has failed and spit the catalyst out) but test pipes are much cheaper. That's why many run them instead.. it's why I ran one on the S2000. I forget what I paid but I think it was 35-50 shipped in a group buy vs 150-200..

yeah on a track car Test pipe is fine, but on a street car it just makes your bumper look shitty and is a huge tip off to cops (i live in CA) that you are not legit.

^ Primaries look kind of short, but very nice.

What is this for? NA EJ or is this an FA prototype?

They connect the wrong primaries together. It should be front pair and back pair (like the stock manifold).

It will likely lose power over cutting the cat out of the stock manifold and welding in a straight pipe.

Shit, you're right! Motherf-...

Distracted by good merge collectors, nice welds, slip fits and v-bands, that this was overlooked.

He could maybe make some mods to keep the same/similar layout if he goes for a 4-1 design instead of the 4-2-1.

Fab quality is very good, though.

I'm just the idiot who wants the headers to be unequal-length enough to hear a little more boxer rumble and less 4cyl growl
