On a funny note, when the BRZ was on a special setup, same thing happened with 458 Challenge cars. The exception for this time was the BRZ had enough power to reign in a lot of very high powered cars on the straight...

Still got pwnd.

Here's a video with a SC (Innovate on E85) + 4.56 gears. Definitely doesn't sound like overkill to me, nor does it sound like it's going through the gears too fast for good use. Actually looks like it runs pretty darn great:

I think what you are looking for is validation to something you want to do. At this point, you should go and try it yourself and see how you like it. For our purposes and application, the shorter gearing actually provides a negative effect on lap times. Others' experiences may vary.

Just a FYI, if we were to do a 2nd gear roll from that speed with E85, we'd get wheelspin, and I'm pretty sure our tires are stickier.

How does the gearing of an frs compared to the aggressive gearing of an s2000? I ask because they're being sc'd all day long and have aggressive gearing lol
@CSG Mike as far as I'm aware, JRSC makes more power than the innovate kit. Though, I remember being in class last year reading about one hitting 300whp

[Edit] after reading some comments. The FRS apparently makes 285whp. What are you guys hitting, Mike?

A bit more... and we're not on E85 yet...

We'll publish after we put everything through its paces. Gonna be a while though.

FRS relative gearing is between a AP1 and AP2 for the 1st through 4th gears. 5th is equal to a AP2.

When you look at absolute gearing.... an AP2 6th gear is closer to the FRS/BRZ 4th gear than it is 5th.
@CSG David's boosted s2k will spin 3rd gear when the tires are cold.

In regards to the S2k gearing reply....

How would the gearing of an FRS with a 4.56 FD compare to the aggressive gearing of an S2k? 4.56 FRS more or less aggressive/shorter than s2k?

I love short aggressive gearing. I just remembered I swapped in a shorter jdm gear cluster, I had shipped in from japan, in my Honda B series tranny housing in the late 90s (wasn't FI though). Had a FI SR S13 after that though; but stock SR tranny with Infiniti FD/pumpkin. SR and KA are completely diff engines/trans anyways; so not really a good before/after gearing comparison on that one.

I think the fallacy of "less shifting = faster lap times" might be touted too much here imo.

It obviously can work both ways... less shifting = slow car too. You want a 4spd FRS with super tall gears? lol

Truth is, balance (adjustment/changing) is best. Hence, why pro race cars change their gear boxes and fd for every road course.

If you supply us with an unlimited amount of cash, we can do that testing for you.

On another note, we have data on multiple Final Drive setups on the S2000 ranging from 3.9 to 4.77 and not as much data on 4.1 to 4.67 data on the FRS/BRZ. I can assure you at this point of time, the OEM Final Drive is the most versatile. Is it the best? No, but it is a balanced setup. If you're on AT, however, just change the FD to something really aggressive.

S2000 data, there's a thread on s2ki, but have you guys published FRS FD data?
