By the way, the red FRS was spotted.

Really? Can you screenshot the results? It would be nice to see who the competitors were or or see how his times on the SX2s were vs PAX results for the event?
The SX2, IMO, is pretty good given its price point, but still difficult to say if it'll be enough to take you to the top.
Pricing doesnt look that sweet...they seem similar price as the Rivals...for seemly far less performance.

It's awesome that there is a new tire maker that wants to get involved in SCCA. If they had a competitive tire, it would be even better.

Half a second slower is huge and would put the tire far below any of the competitive tires. Just dont see the logic in recommending a tire that is the same price as other way more competitive tires, yet far slower...

Yes. Half a second is definitely a big deal, but in the context of his competition for the day I don't think it made a huge difference after he beat his competition for that day by 0.6 seconds in STR.

You're forgetting that I personally run RS3s and note that all the fast guys run RS3s even in the time attack settings. Also remember I never stated the SX2 was a faster tire than the RS3. I've noted the positives of the tire that should be taken into consideration as well.

As for pricing, let me verify that. I was given a different quote, however, if that website is reflective of the pricing, then it's a little overpriced for its performance.

That's my point. Local competition for STR at Cal Speedway events has been soft, so his margin of victory is more or less meaningless. You would need to compare his times via PAX.

Are there any specific sizes of any of these tires that offer a distinct advantage over another tire in a similar size?

I mean like how a certain size of Toyo's had a really sticky compound all the way through as opposed to the other sizes..

A bunch more sizes in the R1R just showed up in a 200TW version on TireRack; relevant might be 225/45/17, as well as 235/45/17 and 255/40/17 listed currently as "Special Order" - on the off chance anyone is interested.

And yet they still don't have relevant sizes to most 17" setups... Who uses 235/45 or 245/45?

235/45 is an OE size for the Evo 9. I ran 245/45 v710s on my last civic for a season. And it would be useful to those taking advantage of the wheel diameter allowance and/or with second gear anxiety/envy. And I'm sure there's a few other reasons/examples out there, too. What does a DS WRX use? Occasionally we need to be reminded that Autocross/TT/Club racing isn't the only market these tires are trying to serve.

They care about the color of your money, not the curve (or lack thereof) on your brim.
