Now I know this is manufacturer testing, but if the results are true it means Bridgestone could be in the running for fastest tire.
http://translate.google.com/translat...ml&prev=search The test mule was a GT86, and it was between 1 and 1.4 % faster (time based). If this translated to autocross use we may see a worthy opponent. I have ran the RE-11A for the past 2 seasons with great success and now that I know bridgestone will have a new offering I will definitely be holding to see results.

For those that have missed it, TireRack did a test of the Rivals, Z2 Star Specs, RS-3 V2, and AD08-R's recently:

As you know, we were invited in 2013 to extensively test the Maxxis RC-1 tires and have also been featured in their advertisement videos.
We have been invited to be GT Radial Champiro SX2 tire testers for the past 3 months and have had the pleasure to work with the GT Radial team to provide data on their tires. GT Radial has also been present at the autocross working with Bob Endicott to test the potential of the SX2 and compare against some of the competitors. GT Radial is a sponsor of 86CUP as well so more data at the consumer, enthusiast, and competitor level will be trickled to the community as the season progresses. ![]() On another note, we have tested virtually all those tires except for the new Dunlop Z2SS and Bridgeston RE71R. We're very interested to find out the performance of those tires and find out where they stack up against the competition. |

I definitely think the RS3v2 get more greasy near the end of track sessions, compared to the original. But they don't feel as downright dangerous in the colder temps as the v1s.

a good and durable high performance tire, but not at the level of the ones currently at the top.

Understandably, there isn't much information on the SX2, however, that's what made us curious about how the tire stacks up against the well known titans. My personal assessment of the GT Radial Champiro SX2 are as follows: - Great feedback due to its stiff sidewall - Very wide for its sizing - True 200TW tire (for example, some tires market as 180TW, but are really like a 100TW, etc.) - as SCCA cracks down on the 200TW rating, we'll see that the tire compounds and grip will start to become more uniform. - Grip is sustained when proper amount of heat is put into the tires. - The tire grip plateaus rather than peak. Great tire to learn on as the tire grip is consistent. - It takes about 1 to 2 laps to warm up on track. Afterwards, tire grip sustains and isn't as peaky as other tires. - Absolute tire grip is not as high as other competitors. - The tire is heavy compared to its competitors, but GT Radial knows this very well since the tire is well overbuilt. - Pretty good wet grip - Bob Endicott was able to lap the 245 SX2 within 0.5 seconds or less compared to 255 RS3s on a 1-minute autocross course. |

As scca cracks down on 200tw? Don't see that happening. I'm curious to see how they drive....probably not enough to buy a losing tire though

I'm not in autocross, but based on the competition, Hankook RS3s seem to be heavily supported out there. RS3 is king in the time attack field, but we all know that car setup and driver skill also play a big role too. |
