Manzo Header (Under $300 header?)
I've been researching headers because apparently they are all the rage now for our cars, giving the best gains in power especially with a tune...
There are LOTS of options out there which is pretty crazy, considering how few there were for Normally Asperated Subaru's prior to the BRZ/FRS (My previous car was a EJ25 N/A Impreza, and I had 3-4 different headers/exhaust setups on my N/A Imprezas I owned, so I have some experience with N/A boxer exhaust systems) I really like the results I've seen from the HKS headers and other EL headers. The boxer rumble from the OFH and Borlas are very nice, but I've done that before so not a huge deal. But the price points of headers varies SO MUCH, from ~$500 to $1500 for some of the really good systems (that Ace 4-2-1 header/OP combo makes me go hnnnnnnng) But anyway, I found the Manzo Headers on a couple websites, and they appear to be clones of the HKS setup, and some folks have mentioned them here but I haven't seen any reviews: http://www.jonmotoring.com/frs-brz-m...length-header/ http://www.frsport.com/Manzo-TP-215-..._p_230803.html For well under $300, I could buy these AND get an Openflash Tablet for the cost of some of the "quality" systems out there... I've delt with poor fitting headers before too (early Borla EJ headers were horrible in terms of fit and finish) so I can deal with that, I would probably coat them with high-temp paint just in case for rust prevention. I guess the question is, should I or shouldn't I? At the very least, we will have a thread about these headers now... LOL! |

i would not suggest to buy them. if your looking to save some money instead of buying the OFH, try the Tsudo header. I am running it with the OFT Stage 2 tune and am very happy with it.

Those headers are basically stock manifolds with a front cat delete. The collector outlet is 2.25" which is also stock size. Aside from whatever you would gain from deleting the cat, I don't think this header would provide any meaningful benefit.
That being said I would also be wary of the same problems you'd find with ebay headers; broken welds, pieces of metal coming loose inside the header after install that ruin cats or turbos, sub-standard metal that corrodes or rusts through after a couple years, etc. Quality parts are very expensive for these cars, unfortunately there are reasons for that. EDIT: I do like tsudo's stuff though, provided you can actually find it. |

the primary runners on many of the cheaper headers are 1.5" and the outlet is 2.25". OFH, Tsudo, Revworks etc headers have runners that are around 1.61" and also a 2.5" outlet. you would gain some powers from the cheaper header, but you might as well just run the stock header with the cat gutted out then.

There is another header like this thats cheap but not AS CHEAP (Godsnow?) that showed reasonable gains but not as much as other headers probably due to the deletion of the cat. |

I'd be more worried about the fitment/weld quality over the size of the runners, thb.
For example, the DC Sports header has terrible fitment (Read: it never fits right) and the Borla header has terrible fabrication quality. Welds that break easily, half-assed collectors, etc.. |

I'm also running it with OFT stage 2 tune and am very happy with the results. I think it was $350 or so when I bought it, its now being sold for $450 on semotors.com. The price has kept creeping up since before I bought mine at the end of the summer. Its very nice quality and perfect fit. Rumbles alone are worth it...the power is definitely nice too. |

Anyone with Borla headers (actually installed in the frs/brz) can chime in? |

But those things are mostly irrelevant, if you take it to any muffler shop with a welder they can fix it for like $20-40. |

I've had the borla header in my car for almost a year and they are 100% fine, as I said those issues were only present in the first batch of them. My flanges were 100% flat, welds are still great and my collectors looked normal.

Yes I would recommend borla headers to anyone. I bought mine for 300 used, love the rumble you get from these.
