Weight distribution after supercharged BRZ?
Has anyone ever thought about the weight distribution after putting a supercharger under the hood? With oil cooler and other Stuff trying to keep it reliable. That's about 100 lbs more on the front where you don't want it. How does the car drive after this on tracks and autox? Is weight shedding necessary to maintain the stock feel? After all this is a fun car, going fast sacrificing drivability is kind of the opposite of what the car's intention.

I don't know if there are any supercharger kits that weigh 100 lbs at front even with an oil cooler.
But in any case, I don't think it's made enough of a difference to anyone. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk |

And at that, a light weight battery could make up for most of that.

No Front mounted Turbo or Supercharger will ever throw off weight distributions ever. The weight gain is minimal compared to the HP/TQ gain your getting

You will not notice a difference.
My supercharger weighs 20 lbs. If you're super paranoid about it, relocate the battery to the rear. Problem fixed. |

I tracked my car NA and still track it now supercharged and did not notice the added weight in the front. I did notice the added horsepower however.

My Vortech and oil cooler + big radiator added ~55lbs. To lighten the front I had a light battery, BBK, crank pulley, clutch and (not-recommended) fuel rail hack. This setup was 58/42 according to the truck stop scale.
Note that you gain weight that sits high and forward where you don't want it. Also it is really easy to take weight off the rear axle: like the seat delete and trunk junk you remove in your 1st 10 minutes of ownership, and 30-40lbs with a light exhaust. I would love to have gotten more weight off the car but it was heading toward 60/40 or worse.

You're putting on 18x9's with 265s anyway, it all evens out.
you could always relocate the battery or use a smaller one if it bothers you. |
