It was a pretty common issue at first so there shouldn't be a problem. If they give you a hard time just holler and I can get the number from my dealer (we are on very good terms)

They must figure the Subaru techs are a little smarter and don't need their hand held through each step.
The parts list at the top shows that whole new housings are required and give the new part number.

Just went to a toyota dealer because I am having this issue on my '13 FR-S that I bought last weekend, from what I can gather, they said they were going to replace the gasket and the lens. Is this correct? Isn't the whole assembly supposed to be replaced?

Be one of the very, very rare occurrences for anything beyond the early 13s!

As someone who makes and sells aftermarket gaskets, I'll say that's not true. While my customer base is MORE 2013, it's not an overwhelming majority. Still lots of 2014 and 2015 models. Until the design of the trunk channel and tail light housing is changed, water will continuously assault the gasket. Depending on your area's weather or how you store your car makes you varyingly susceptible.

If you're buying a newer model year, or have an older one and haven't had any condensation yet, your best bet to prevent it is to put waterproof tape over the gap between the trunk channel and the housing so the water flows over/past it instead of down into the gap and directly onto the gasket.

Question

My 2014 Monogram that is almost one year old has started to get condensation in the passenger side tail light. Is this just a basic warranty repair that I can just ask them to replace the tail light assembly? I had the same problem on my 2003 Celica within 3 months of purchase and I had them replace tail lights and headlights due to condensation. I might just wait to the driver's side starts to fog as well and get them replaced at the same time. I assume I would just ask them to replace.

Ya just show them the TSB above if they give you a hard time.

Good suggestion. I did this with my '13 but used black caulk. Since the car is DGM, can't even notice.

Thanks for the advice, I bought your gaskets worked for while guess it is just too wet in the PNW.Had the car back at the dealer a few weeks ago, they wouldn't replace the tails until they try one more torquing sequence? Guess they are in contact with SOA on this?

Thanks for buying them. If they failed for you, shoot me a PM and I'll get it worked out for you.
