Old school style

So, I REALLY like the TRD Tosco wheels that Toyota came up with for their show car a while back...they remind me of my Fiat/Alfa days with Cromodoras. The only thing that really makes them not an option (besides being unavailable...lol) is that they are 15". Has anyone seen Tosco/Cromodora-style wheels in a 16 or 17 with a 5x100 bolt pattern and reasonable offset?

I doubt they came in 5x100. You would probably have to buy a set and use adapters to get them to work. Check some vintage Japanese wheel sites or hit up GTR-Garage as they have a great wheel import service.

The '79 RX7 has similar wheels but they were offered in 13's. Sadly, I couldn't find anything larger than the custom one-off that Toyota made for that FRS.

That's exactly what I'm looking for! But I'm having trouble actually finding the wheel for sale on Wheeldude's website...

EDIT: Ahh...looks like they are a new model and have yet to be released. Man, I just hope they aren't too heavy...

The wheel is still new ish and their site is kind of a mess right now due to their tax return sale. Contact Wheeldude directly

"These are called the Retro 2’s and there’s no need to explain why. These will come in 17×9 5×100 +42. You saw it here first at wheeldude.com. "

Hmmm...I like the conservative offset, but how tight is 17x9 going to fit on stock struts/springs with a +42 offset? That's only 6mm further outboard than stock. Add the extra 25.4 mm of the extra width on the inside lip, and you're nearly two full centimeters closer to the strut. Is there enough clearance? Is the issue of clearance with the wheel itself, or the tire? I just bought camber bolts too - will I be able to use them?

Well, the wheel fitment chart in the sticky section seems to indicate 17x9 +42 will fit, but with only a 1/4" of clearance to the strut. Not much room for additional camber (at least, not with bolts...). If a 17x8 isn't available, I might have to go with Whiteline offset strut bushings to get more negative camber (and some added caster too).

I called and called, but they are out of stock. They were not the best seller, and kind hard to find now. I had to settle on the Enkei Compes for the retro look, otherwise I'd be rolling on these.

I'm not really big on 16s or 15s for this car but DEAR GOD!!!

This is probably the best example I've seen yet of this setup. I follow him on ig and the car is pretty awesome. It used to have stillen aero and 18" RAYS on it.

This is probably one of mav TRA FRS'

In case you're wondering, they're 4 lug Watanabe wheels with custom adapters to go from 4x114 to 5x100.
