You can always contact them and talk to Jesse. They will tell you based on those pictures if you need a replacement or not. You paid a good chunk of money for those items and they do have a lifetime warranty to the original owner.

Thanks. I've sent an email to JDL with the pics as well and I'll contact them by phone soon if necessary. I wanted to share the pics here and I'll let others know how the situation is resolved. I'm not an expert, and was hoping to get feedback on the pics from other forum members too.

I can tell you right now my collector did not look like that. I have pictures on my phone of it and I'm looking at it right now and I don't see any cracks. Same with my coated overpipe.

Hey guys I understand the concerns, just wanted to shed some light on the assembly process of these headers. I went and grabbed a collector that was in the process of being ported.

Those are not "cracks" that you are seeing. The collector isn't welded there. It is not a sealing point of the collector.

The collectors are welded up around the outside.

We use collector diamonds to seal up the middle.

The inner portion of the collector is very thin. It is blended together with a carbide bit then ported. There is no weld holding the pictured part together. Sometimes when the runners are welded to the collector slight separation like pictured in the post above occurs from the metal heating up. Grinding it back down after would result in the metal being way to thin.

There will be no effect on the performance or longevity to the header. In fact once ran and heat cycled everything will more than likely move back into place.

The dual exit is quieter than both mentioned from the cars we've had it on...

Thanks for the quick response and the explanation. OK, so you don't consider my header defective in any way and worthy of being "fixed"? Buyers can and should expect them to look like this? I have seen many pics posted on here and on your website where it looks perfect, so you can understand my concern/disappointment.

And are the connections on the overpipe fine and as intended?

Overpipe connection looks like it was ported by hand, but not a concern IMO.

Could we get some sound clips when you get a chance? Im debating vs the jdl op and catted fp and the nameless catted fp/op /w helmholtz combo. Thanks!

Well, installed most of the parts today. Uel w/out cat and over pipe. The car does sound absolutely amazing! However, I got the wrong front pipe for 2.5 inch Perrin CBE so JDL is shipping me a new one on Monday which is great of them to have such a quick response. There is a slight wisp of air sound in sync with the engine pulse which may or may not be a leak.

Word of caution, if you have Perrin CBE make sure you get the front pipe that is flush with the flange on both ends.

Also found out that one can't drive over 70mph without the black shield underneath the over pipe because plastic underbody pieces start to go crazy...

Wait so this pipe I just received from JDL won't work with the Perrin CBE?
