Correct, dropping an engine makes it a swap.

An AE85 with a 4age swap is still not an 86

If you guys really want a racing anime, just watch REDLINE. That'll knock your socks off.

This looks like a lame speed racer rip off.. Fake, Lame, none realistic mush..

Initial D is so amazing because you can actually relate to it. The realism factor in the show is just top notch and that is what they were going for. Hence why Tsuchiya was on the editorial staff making sure that the writers were accurate. God I love that show.. I want to live in that world

Well that's the point of REDLINE. It's more a fantasy anime, but the animation and music are superb. The actual movie is mental, and the race is pretty crazy.

I like Initial D as much as the next guy, but REDLINE wasn't trying to be realistic at all :p

If you're looking for realism in an animation, that's a pretty boring thing to look forward too. Initial D is one of my favourite anime's, but Redline is probably the prettiest thing I've ever seen. It took 7 years for the studio to make it look how it is, and goddamn it's beautiful. Redline is a type of movie you watch when you've got nothing to do. Just kick back and watch a fun little adventure. It's original objective wasn't to be realistic. And speaking of realism, I seriously doubt you're going to be catching gutters and drifting without spilling water out of a cup filled to the brim lol.

i bet tsuchiya can do it! He did all that Tokyo drift shit! I personally don't like fast and furious much but his drifts beautifully in Tokyo drift. As for closest to reality I think wangan wins the trophy, cars actually crash on the highway, people actually dies from cars. Teaches life lesson like car is a hobby but overdoing it will get yourself killed. It also mentions there are more important things in life than risking your life for street racing. Initial D wins the second place.

Wangan Midnight is awesome and certainly worth watching if you remotely enjoyed Initial-D. I enjoyed how they tackled so many different platforms all in the name of hitting the highest speed.

Capta (mentioned earlier) is brilliant if you're a fan of racing, but that show ended too soon! He finally got into formula racing and then roll the credits.

On the Initial-D front they are rebooting the original series into a movie trilogy with the first one now already out.

Off topic I know but here is a nice little fan trailer for my current favourite Aldnoah Zero (crank your volume for it). Season two of the show just started too!
