*Knocks on wood* 41k miles and the only CEL i've ever gotten was a fuel pressure low/hi fault from the car sitting all winter. Reset and has never came back.

Hoping it's something simple like a bad sensor. Dealer may just reset it and see if it returns.

Sorry to hear about this. Hopefully it's fixed soon but if not, and assuming the dealership did the code scan, the buyback clock has started in one of the most customer favorable states in the US where the manufacturer reimburses initial cost including accessories, TT&L plus any finance or extended warranty costs incurred.

Trade-in time? What is that? This car is going to be at my funeral.

Let the dealership scan the code, it shifts responsibility to them. While you're driving it around with the light on, who knows if any further damage is being done (doubtful, but the owner's manual CYA says to take it to the closest dealership ASAP).
This a guy knows what he's talk about. I had the same issue dealer fixed it turned out to be nothing

Never saw it again

Why trip for? Take it to the dealer. If something is going to break or go wrong, I'd RATHER it break or go wrong while the car is under warranty.

CEL @ 2500 miles on RS 1.0

Could be as simple as a half-lock on the cam angle sensor or some contamination in the VVT's oil control valve. Easy fixes that don't impact the vehicle long term at all.

Look at it this way: if it were something big, the check engine light would be flashing. A solid check engine light is usually small potatoes.

I must admit for a new car it is annoying for this sort of thing to happen, I had one of my new cars off the showroom have defective AC, the system wasnt charged at the factory, oh boy believe me I freaked out on them , because what kind of PDI was done? any sort of quality control at the factory?

But you have warranty so there isnt anything you need to stress about really, sont know how it is for you guys, but over here dealers take warranty claims seriously..........Well i guess they have to cos they make money off them in any case

30K miles in twelve months, and the only CEL I've had is one I caused myself by using Torque. Then I used Torque to scan it and clear it, which was all very meta.

All cars have issues. They're complicated machines.

Hopefully they are at least giving you a loaner?

Driving a Camry around for two days will give you a whole new appreciation for your FR-S when you get it back!!

A couple weeks after I bought my FR-S, I had a two week business trip in Pittsburgh. Beautiful place, horrible roads in town. Out of town is another story though.

I got stuck with a Mazda 3 for two weeks, and not the nice quick ones either. On the weekends I missed my car more than anything, really.

No loaner's were available... made for a fun day sitting in their waiting room. They changed their mind, gave the car back, and said they don't know what's wrong so they're just going to run through the 2012 TSB and hope it's the same issue. Car goes back to them next Wednesday when they get a replacement sensor in.
