Oh ...oh...oh and those same people usually have no concept of what a merge lane is for! They stop under the merge sign and wait for traffic to clear instead of speed up and just slide in.

People who don't know stop signs with white borders are "Stoptionals" and do not require a complete stop.

People who reverse on the freeway to get to the exit they missed.
People who change lanes in the middle of a roundabout without looking to see if anyone is beside them. People who drive 55mph in the fast lane on a 70mph freeway. People who honk their horn at every driver who annoys them. Eighteen-wheelers who turn into traffic and expect others to wait for them. People who sit forever trying to make a left turn when there is a perfectly good center/turning lane that they could have used a dozen times over. People who don't know they can take a free right. People who don't yield when taking an unprotected left turn. People who drive progressively slower and slower when approaching an intersection because they don't know what lane they want to be in. People who think that because they put their indicator on, everyone else needs move out of their way, regardless of the inconvenience to multiple parties. People who come to a complete stop at yield signs. People who come to a complete stop when entering a roundabout. I'm sure I missed some. I will update if I make it home from work today...

Stop means stop here. If it was optional it is a yield sign. Who has these? Dude you have been breaking the law without knowing it! https://answers.yahoo.com/question/i...9185943AARxyt8

Well, I sure hate drivers that look at the end of their hood OR maybe the license plate of the car in front of them. I hate people that arbitrarily ignore traffic rules. I hate drivers that assume you can must drive on through a yield... If they looked past their nose they might see bumper to bumper traffic, for example... I hate SUV's. Unless you're trailering hay and drop the kids of at school on the way, in which case a trusty rusty Suburban is acceptable. I hate cell phones in a car if you're driving. Black ice... Having to go... And stuck in traffic. |

[QUOTE=cjd;2097147]Never heard that one before? I swear its true, we watched a cop do that the other day. I hate driving in my neighborhood because of this. Been almost rear ended many times. My favorite was the times car was already in the intersection... And the SUV driver could a seen it ifnot for...
QUOTE] Nope a total urban legend that a fair number of people seem to believe! There is even a facebook page telling people what you think. All new stop signs are made with a white border. It is there as a method to make the sign more visible at night not as a semi qualifier on if you have to stop or not. Stop signs (with or without a border) mean come to a full stop in every jurisdiction in the world. Just think about it logically. Why would they make two different stop signs that mean different things but already have a sign (yield) that does one of them? How can stopping be optional the word is self explanatory. I know that you probably don't believe me but those are the facts! Watching a cop break a traffic law in the worst indication ever as they break them all! "Today’s stop sign stands approximately 7 feet off the ground and measures 75 cm (around 29.5 inches) across from one flat side of the red octagon to the other. The white border of the stop sign is 2 cm wide and the word STOP is written in capital letters that are 25 cm (approximately 10 inches) tall. Stop signs are also retroreflective, which means that if your headlights shine on them, light will be reflected back toward you. On roads that have more than one lane, stop signs are slightly larger, measuring about 95 cm (around 37 inches) wide. The familiar red octagonal shape of stop signs is now the standard in most of the world. Countries like China, Columbia, Iran, Ireland, Korea and Taiwan all use different languages, but that red octagon with a white border means the same thing in all of them — stop." http://blog.allstate.com/stop-signs-...-for-97-years/

Can't edit last post for some reason.
Here is the legislated requirements for all stop signs in the US: 2B-4 Stop Sign (Rl-1) STOP signs are intended for use where traffic is required to stop. The STOP sign shall be an octagon with white message and border on a red background. The standard size shall be 30 x 30 inches. Where greater emphasis or visibility is required, a larger size is recommended. On low- volume local streets and secondary roads with low approach speeds, a 24 x 24 inch size may be used. At a multiway stop intersection (sec. 2B-6), a supplementary plate (Rl-3) should be mounted just below each STOP sign. If the number of approach legs to the intersection is three or more, the numeral on the supplementary plate shall correspond to the actual number of legs, or the legend ALL-WAY (Rl-4) may be used. The supplementary plate shall have white letters on a red background and shall have a standard size of 12 x 6 inches (Rl-3) or 18 x 6 inches (Rl-4). A STOP sign beacon or beacons may be used in conjunction with a STOP sign as described in section 4E-4. Secondary messages shall not be used on STOP sign faces.

OK, see.., this is kinda fun. A lot easier to keep a straight face online!
(I, at least, know it to be a lame joke... I hate it when people don't stop, or assume I won't stop, or... It's not Cairo!) |

Another biggie are the assholes that don't speed up, thereby slowing everybody behind them down, while trying to merge onto a major highway doing 65km/h! Just my luck I get stuck behind these pricks everyday trying to get on 401.
Also, the chumps that use all-season tires for our wintery Canada. I pray everyday that they start mandating winter tires in the province of Ontario.

Damn it I knew there had to be somebody that actually believed it and would ignore all evidence to the contrary. The legislation I posted is US! Show me one single legitimate piece of evidence that it is optional.

What do I hate? When I decide to do something stupid like take a corner at a very high speed (because let's face it, it's the most appealing thing to do in a twin), but then I look in my rear view and some vehicle with a high CoG has done the same and is right on my ass.
