Of course TRD stuff is and always will be expensive, everything at the dealer is overpriced compared to aftermarket. Whether its parts, tires or service it all can always be had for less somewhere else.

Just want to add that an inside source at Toyota confirmed that Eibach is the supplier for the TRD Springs for the FR-S.
Quality is a possibility but doesn't cover all possible reasons (supply, conflict of interest, etc.) for a stop sale.

Going to Necro this thread to say that I waited over a month and a half from Toyota to get a new batch of TRD springs in the US/SoCal, and then get an email after they said "It is looking good, they should be in the US now!". A day later, get a follow up email saying there is a stop sale and that "I can wait for a new part # or design, or go with a full refund". WTF.
Any news on this? Really disappointed with Toyota right now from lack of communication about when the parts were coming in after nearly paying in full for part/install to lock a spot in at the shop, and after then them seemingly coming up with a BS excuse for a "stop sale". |

When I ordered my 2015 in last July I added the dealer installed TRD springs, swaybar and brakes. The parts arrived in mid August and the car arrived in mid September, at which time they installed the parts ... I have the removed items in my garage ... and I have been driving on them since day one.

Just got an update from San Diego Toyota, apparently the stop sale was magically lifted and now I am on back order. So; Springs "arrive in CA" on the 27th, then they arrive at dealership, day goes by and "they get a stop sale notification and cannot fulfill order" and we wait for any more updates. 2 weeks later (today), we get an email saying the stop sale is not in effect anymore and she can fulfill the order but it sounds like we have been put on the bottom of the list again. (wtf)
Once again, this random stop sale issue sounds just like their way around overselling or receiving incorrect amount of product at the dealership. Do not believe they can fix the design issue they quote found, produce another batch, and then ship to CA from Japan in two weeks total over the holidays. Just my opinion. That being said, waiting for one more promised update tomorrow before ditching the idea of TRD springs and going with another suspension setup. |

If you all are talking about TRD USA springs I'll chime in and say that they are basically rebranded Eibachs.
I've had mine on since late July '14 and they gave about a 7/8" drop all around. The bumpstops were exactly like the Eibach pro-kit bumpstops and the coil count is the same as well. The only thing I am unsure of is the spring rates. The TRD springs might have a different spring rate than the Eibach. Here are a few photos of my car with the springs installed. This is what kind of drop you will get. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And the springs as seen through the front wheel gap:

Finally setup my install apt this coming Saturday. The stop sale was once again lifted, but the toyota rep was not able to give any details on why there was one. "Possibly due to a defect".
I am pretty sure I have seen a thread somewhere on the forums comparing to the Eibach pro-kit and people saying the difference is minimal to nonexistent. |
