Water is king when it comes to commercial/automotive cooling, full stop. The only reason why we do not run 100% water in cooling applications is because of water's lofty freezing point

Didn't see it anywhere in this thread but the Subaru part # for coolant is SAO868V9270.

Anyone know if I can just add coolant without draining it?? I just checked my coolant, and its non-existent but my engine temperature is normal and heater is working fine. Do I leave the car running with the heater on while adding coolant or just the heater on is fine?? My first car so don't really know what the procedure is. Have about 28,000km on my brz.

Top it off with blue subaru coolant or toyota frs blue coolant. The subaru version is cheaper because other subarus use the same coolant. The Toyota one is more expensive.

If your car hasn't overheated, the coolant level in the radiator is probably okay. The coolant tank that you check is the reservoir, so it's not a disaster if it's empty. You won't need to drain it, just be sure to top it off with the Subaru Super Coolant (blue, not green)--mixing coolant types (ie different colors) will reduce the lifetime of the coolant.

I've read that I need to mix 50/50 with distilled water. True??

No. The Subaru Super Coolant (blue color) is pre-mixed with water, definitely don't dilute it with water.

False.

The bottle itself says do not add water.

I just purchased the Blue coolant at the Subie Dealer. it came out to be the same price from Subaru PArts Online, $24.14. My car had literally NO coolant whatsoever so when I cold started the car it sounded like it wanted to get some coolant but couldnt get any because there wasnt any. Problem is now gone because of the topped off coolant though

I had to top mine off before a long road trip through the desert - i saw my temperature gauge drop a whole notch comparing southern california to vegas deserts - kind of a big deal to me

Hello to all!

Just a quick question about the coolant.

Here in Italy seem is impossible to find the Toyota/Subaru Blu stuff 50/50 so i searched other products.

Motul advice is this:

https://www.motul.com/it/en/products...inugel-optimal

The specs are the same mentioned in the owner manual of the car..

Go for it?

Thanks!
