I'm finally done with Exotic Bounties after I finish my Pocket Infinity bounty. They're too much work IMO, especially when I already have other Exotic weapons for each weapon slot. The only Exotic I still really want is IceBreaker, other than that I could care less. Thorn is pretty cool though, but since I have the Last Word I'm happy with that. I'd rather be able to upgrade my Red Hand IX and Timur's Lash, it's very frustrating that there isn't an option to upgrade older Legendaries.

I'm doing super good advice bounty over again on two different characters just because it's by far the easiest, and will give me two more exotic shards. Honestly, spending 1 strange coin for the item required for the quest, and then getting 500 kills with a machine gun in PvE or PvP (of course easier in PvE), is to me a better deal than using 7 strange coins on an exotic shard.

That and my bad juju quest on my main is almost done with the strike portion. Haven't been grinding it, just letting nightfalls and weeklies add up on it. Looking forward to replacing my Bad Juju with the 2.0 version (and getting another shard dismantling the old one).

You're correct, some are much easier than others. I love my Super Good Advice and it was probably the easiest Exotic bounty I have attempted. One thing for certain, I'm not attempting anymore that have a PvP element attached to them. I learned my lesson after the last Iron Banner when I spent a whole week grinding to get gear/weapons only to have them made obsolete a few weeks later. Fool me once once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

I've done Thorn twice (2.0 and 1.0), Invective and Bad Juju once each so far. Those are the PvP ones I can think of. The only one I would get tired of is Thorn's quest, since it forces me to use an element that not a lot of my weapons are. So I had to buy a void fusion rifle and be the annoying fusion guy on PvP for a couple days (I hate being that guy). Invective and Bad Juju didn't bother me.

I agree on Iron Banner though. I got to max rank and got my shader and cloak, and since those never appear to change, I didn't bother doing it last time and won't do it this time. I'm already lvl 32 with a load out of 331 weapons, so there's almost zero point to me playing Destiny until Hard-Mode Crota's End comes out.

This soured me on the whole Iron Banner. The event is fun, but it's not exactly easy to get to level 4 or 5 to buy the better items and we're looking down the barrel at HoW which should be arriving in early March making all of our gear outdated again.

Delaying the hard mode Crota for over month is also a curious design choice, assuming we get primary weapon drops are they going to be outdated in less than 2 months?

I think you make a very valid point at the end and is one of the legitimate complaints that I see regularly about this game and that's the design is actually giving people reasons NOT to play the game too much. Bungie's attempt to slow progression etc. is actually counter-productive IMO. It actually gives people little reason to play more than an hour a day, unless you just love grinding for the grind of it.

Prior to the DLC dropping, I was constantly working towards that goal of leveling up my light level. Once the DLC dropped, I realized there was a lot of truth in the complaint that the game was actually forcing people to not play very often. The weekly caps on Vanguard/Crucible marks even further supports this claim.

Now, I'm just going to play to have fun and not worry about the max light level cap. I know it will be obsolete come the next DLC release anyway, so why sweat it now? My biggest complaint now is that Bungie needs to get off their high horse and stop being so stubborn about things. If they'd put in a system that allowed me to update my older gear and weapons to the newer levels, I'd be extremely happy with that. Besides, the current weapon perks suck. In fact, a much better use for the gunsmith would be to allow you to take weapons to him and purchase the perks you want. After all, that's what a gunsmith should do anyway. Right now he's basically useless other than being a ammo synth vendor.

Yep, no way I am grinding IB again. Learned my lesson on that one. I really loved the gauntlets too. I also really want to upgrade my Timur's Lash, but as things stand right now looks like that isn't going to happen. I'd be happy to play IB with friends but I'm not going to grind it for gear again.

It's a Destiny-specific matchmaking site based on general preferences like play time, age, profanity, level, mic, console, etc, and places you into a group of up to 100 other similar people. I've been using it about a week and it's AWESOME, I have yet to run into a bad group. SO much easier than other alternatives hoping that you get a compatible group with no trolls or assholes. Game events can be scheduled in advance. There's real time group chat and event chat. Everyone I've met there has been great, and inactive members are removed from the group after about 2 weeks to give active members priority. It's jokingly being called gHarmony.

So is it the first chest still available on the Crota Raid? In other words, can you still solo the first chest? I thought about trying it last night but ended up only being online for about 20 minutes.

The first chest still spawns in a random part of the Abyss, but it has had its chance to drop exotics removed. It still gives you shards/energy though.

You can still solo the whole first part with every class as well.
