1st Service.?. 6k/6mo/sooner.?.

Hi aLL,
i have a 2015 Subaru BRZ with approximately 3.6k miles which i purchased about 5 months ago and was wondering when i should take it in for its 1st service.?. Dealer suggests every 6k/6mo. or should i do this sooner.?.
TIA,
Michael.

I waited until 6000 miles, but it only took me about 2 months. It feels odd waiting that many miles for the first change, but I believe that the break-in oil is run through at the factory.

That being said, if you do change the oil early, the only thing you're hurting is your wallet.

I'd take it in and get that oil/filter changed. But - that's just me.

Owners manual says 7500 mile intervals. I'm good with that.

To be clear, Subaru changed from 3000 for the first, then 7500 and 7500 intervals for 2014 to every 6000 static for 2015. Up to you if you follow it or not. I tend to stick to the schedule and keep my receipts. That way if something does go wrong, there is less chance of warranty shenanigans.

The Subaru maintenance schedule that I looked at for my 2015 BRZ said the first service should be at the earlier of 6 months or 6k miles. Same language for future services. If you only have 3k miles but reach 6 months and have free service for 2yr/24k miles, I would take it in and have them do the oil change and tire rotation. At least that is how I interpret it.

I'd change the oil myself, but if you must take it to the dealer, 6,000mi or 6 months, whichever comes first.

And mine will still never see a dealer for maintenance.
