If I remember correctly, the JDM lights are something around $2000 for the pair.

Good headlights have never been cheap.

Don't even think about looking at the Germans either...

The guy running around with $300 headlights on his E46 doesn't look all that great...

They're probably 8 pin.

But you could do something similar to this for install.

It doesn't mention that on their website. We'll have to wait until a shop in the states gets their hands on a pair or someone crazy enough to shell out $1713 + shipping and whatever other fees to get them here.

Lol, that's cheap for a pair of HID headlights.

Most quality HID/Xenon/LED headlights for $2000+ I.e. The GT86 JDM ones

I could probably piece together a HID headlight set for half of that $1500 price tag, if not cheaper.

Granted, I make this statement without any researching, so I may be incorrect. I personally just have never seen the reasoning why headlights (particularly housings) cost so much in general.

The bulb and ballasts cost some $$ to make, but the housing is a fairly 'inexpensive' piece, at least material-wise. That said,it is pretty difficult to properly align/reflect light in a given housing/projector. The tolerances have to be pretty tight, as otherwise glare and other issues would arise. And the tighter the tolerances are, the more expensive the product.
