Yeah, for real. Why is it that these "professional" car reviewers tend to have short, uninformative, basic reviews doctored up with fancy words and unrelated analogies? Most of us can communicate how this car really feels in a review better than they can!

Nice, well written review. You did not mention whether there was any reaction from the general public as you drove the car around? Does anyone seem to notice it? I was really surprised while at the dealership the other day checking out the BRZ that people that walked by and drove by did not seem to give the car a second look. Have American drivers really become that apathetic about "cool as hell" cars?

Called up my dealer again today in Renton (closer to the port even!) no truck yet. I'm hoping the rest of the western WA dealerships get their cars today, since we've confirmed 4 dealers have recieved their initial shipment so far (auburn, puyallup, carter shoreline, carter ballard). Jeff Perrin is badgering his dealership too.

I've noticed a few cyclists and people on the side of streets giving me a thumbs up, and I've been followed twice until I stop so they can comment/talk about the car. I've also noticed a few times people cruising at the same speed and looking at my car more than the road in front of them :P. We'll see how long this continues for.

What bothers me is he said the shift lever is vibrating and you can feel it....personally, I find that annoying, hopefully the FRS doesn't have that issue but I doubt it.

I think that's common amongst linear drivetrains. Transverse mount engines/transmissions are not as much of a direct link so they don't move as much. But from the videos I've seen, it doesn't seem to be too excessive compared to other Subarus and some older cars.

I have not driven either of those cars. I really only test drove new cars that had really caught my attention lately:

-GTI (seems to get a 90% in every category, no 100% though)
-370z (love the appearance, power is nice too)
-TT (I like how it's like a baby R8, but no manual for anything but the TT RS put that out of my consideration... I did test drive a regular TT and the manu-matic transmission drove me nuts and wouldn't hold onto any gear for me)
-Mustang GT (I've heard nothing but praise for the engine, and the sound was intoxicating)
-Lancer Evo X (ridiculously fun car, but it seemed too over the top, and I couldn't justify spending that much on insurance)

I tried to test drive an MX-5 and Speed 3, but they actually turned me away because I looked young, they were busy, and "they wanted me to try everything and go to them last". Go figure.

So Mazda thought you looked too young for a test drive but you were able to get a test drive with Audi, Nissan for a 370z and VW? haha. wow, mazda.

Yeah, to be honest, I wouldn't want that much attention. I'm likely going to hold out until they're a little more common next year.

My 350Z did this too. I watched a video on here a couple days ago of a guy driving the FR-S(I think) on a track and when he ran over the rumble strips at the apex to a corner the shifter rattled around like it was disconnected. I just remember seeing that and thinking Hmmmmmm. Forgot about it until I read the OP's review.
