I've found its easier to drive the frs on winter tires with the tc/vsc all off rather than on. I've never had tc or any type of system in my older jdm awd and rwd cars, so I probably just grew some weird habits.
I rocked the oem michelin primacy tires for a day and decided never again. Bought some crappy non studded michelin x ice 2 and they are incredible compared to oem. |

So I'm actually learning how to drive manual with my new BRZ on the weekends.
I dont commute with it, and its parked in my GF's driveway (since he lives in Brooklyn and has one while I do not). I was planning on continuing my practice this weekend if the roads were dry. But if I'm reading things right, these tires aren't even safe when roads are dry if the temperature outside is low? |

17 degrees this morning and I have x-ice 3's in set of black steelies. When it gets this cold the dedicated snow tires really shine. The handling is better at this temp than the handling at say 40 degrees. Too squishy when it's "warm" out.
I don't use hub caps. I applied a synthetic paint sealant on all metal surfaces of the wheel inside and outside of wheel. Should help with preventing corrosion from the harsh road treatment chemicals aka calcium chloride. It's fun to drive this car with a fresh coating of snow on the roads! I have the same setup and know exactly what you mean. Dry handling is so much better than when I was on Blizzaks. |

Winter tires will most certainly make a night and day difference on ANY vehicle. From driving my FRS which has Michelin xice3's and going to my work truck (GMC sierra 1500) which has almost bald all seasons on, driving the truck is like having granite blocks for tires. They spin like crazy and get little to no traction. Definitely a wildly noticeable feeling
