Exactly what I was thinking. Holy cow. Didn't seem that big when I was driving next to one.

Changed the oil to Sustina and put in a Fumoto Qwikvalve. Who ever did the oil change last time was a monkey with a wrench. Both the filter and drain plug were unbelievably tight. Thankfully all the threads looked ok.

You are right about the giggle factor in the BRZ with good snows. I have Conti EWC's and it definitely adds another dimension to the car. We haven't had much of the slippery stuff yet this year but when we did I went (nearly) everywhere I needed to. You have to be careful though, not much clearance means there will be some parking lots you can't get into or out of without getting out of the car to shovel.
Haha, yeah I'm in Wyoming right now, although I hear it did snow in Southern Cal this last week :3

Yes, I expect ground clearance could be a problem with the BRZ. I high-centered our Outback one year after there was a big snowstorm and the plow pushed a wall of snow across the top of our driveway. I probably could have pushed through it if I'd built some more speed, but I didn't want to damage the bumper.

Clearly we just need a winter suspension setup for the BRZ-- raise the car an inch over stock, put skinny wheels and snow tyres on it...

You're lucky your Outback doesn't have traction control. Ours does and I don't think there's a way to turn it off (I'll have to read the manual later to see if there is a way). The TC on our car tends to let you get a pretty big slide going, then it just closes the throttle on you and waits for the car to straighten out. No powersliding allowed, I guess. It's a shame because with the soft suspension and long pendulum it's fun to flick the back around-- if you could hold it there that would be blissful

Stuck some sound insulation in the headliner and around the microphone. That was a pain in the ass. I'm jumpy around airbag stuff.

First Scandinavian flick of the season yesterday.
Sadly, the snow changed to rain and melted everything quick.

Drove about 500km yesterday back to Halifax after being home for Christmas. Good share of nasty snow. Had about an hour and a half of doing 60-70km/h on 100km/h divided highway.

Ended up with insane salt stripes and streamlines on the car.
