You're right, I haven't been active lately (been really busy with other stuff), so I am new to the SquadRogue experience. I just took a look at his other threads though, and I see what you mean. I tend to still think he's probably just young and naive even after this research, but I tend to have too much faith in humanity for my own good...

In his defense the "show me your RPMs" thread did provide substantial entertainment for many people for quite a while!

At the start and end of this road there is a sign that says something like -"ANY reckless driving will result in impound"

People drive off/fly off all the time on this road. A couple deaths in the last few years.

Search google for ______(insert road name) crash and you will find lots of videos, news reports etc.

On the scale of unsafe roads that one from what I saw was tame. though as far as high speed driving goes a road with that many bicycles on it should never be driven with such reckless abandon.

Those dudes in OP's vids suck at driving as well. Man, I miss the 80's and Ortega Highway.

Give this a read, OP. Applies to cars as well.

Oh, and seriously, be careful. Yes, this is a fantastic handling car, but don't push it too far. You can very easily crash it if you aren't used to how a low-slung, RWD car behaves when pushed.

The original definition of a drift was a "4 wheel drift", wherein the car slides in a controlled manner across the roadway, maximizing the speed at which it takes a corner. It is standard in REAL racing.

The idiotic "drifting" done today in which you intentionally light up your rear tires and slide the car around using opposite lock is just entertainment.

Leave you stability control on until you get some experience with how the car responds to opening the throttle as you exit a corner. If the system kicks in and you feel the car snap back into line you know you were pushing the limits.

Both are typically slower. You don't see a lot of "drifting" in "real" racing, as you said.

While it is true that the slip angle is nonzero for maximizing grip in a corner, this is not in fact sliding. In real racing, for the most part, cornering without sliding is desired, and I would be very curious to see a citation for your claim both about the original definition of "4 wheel drift" and to support that it is the fastest way around a corner.
