25 Hour of Thunderhill

Would anyone be interested in making attempt for the 2015 25 Hour of Thunderhill?

I think it would be an awesome race to be in. What are you trying to find out/do?

Find? A team. A car. Money.

Do? Survive the 25. Maybe win.

Me personally, not trying to do anything. Just had a crazy idea that the race would be something I'd be interested in participating at one point or another. Major obstacles though... a car, a team, and money and lots of it.

Well don't know what vehicle you want to race but I have done several 24 hr races and a Miata is hard to beat and cheap. Pick the right tire and rotate every four hours, no need to change brake pads, and it runs out of fuel right at 2 hours so you can double stint and only stop for fuel, then every four hours change drivers fuel and rotate tires or you can change drivers every 2hours and fuel. Four drivers works good and you will need 4-6 crew. Does the Thunderhill race a straight 25 hours or like some tracks do 12 daylight hours on two days? Need radios or special horn to notify pits your coming in in a lap or two. My 2 cents

25 straight hours. Starts at 11AM on Saturday. Ends at 12PM on Sunday.

That alone takes a few months/events to get. After that you got a long road before someone would offer a seat in their race car for an endurance race, or you can build your own.

Have you considered 24 hrs of lemons or chump car? There are lots of teams looking for more help, drivers and money. I've helped out in a couple of teams just for the hell of it, working on the car, selling/picking up parts, etc and have been offered seat time in exchange (but I turned it down, have you seen the nut jobs that work on those cars? Lol )

Heck, there are even some teams that just plainly sell seat time for sponsorship (money). You basically pay, show up the day of the race, do your stint, and hang out/spectate/party for the rest of the day.

I believe they have an event at t-hill in sept, but I've only done the Sonoma ones since those are the closest to me.

yeah I think it's a little ambitious to take on the 25 until you've had at least a few Lemons or Chumpcars races under your belt (or other series of course). I've considered doing Lemons in the past with friends but the plan fell apart. I'd start with that first though.

There are alot of lemons teams that have arrive and drives (aka paid drivers). It can be a great way of getting your feet wet with Lemons racing/racing in general. One good way to approach this is to hop on the forums and do a post saying you are looking to join a team/arrive and drive; there is even a Lemons race at Sonoma later this month so now is an easy time to get involved.

If you PM me I can also put you into contact with my team captain, but I don't know what his plan is for arrive and drives on our upcoming races so I can't really say if that would help you.
