Mountain Riding

Talk about your mountain riding experiences?

My first time going up to this very popular mountain full of twists, as I was driving I saw a bunch of dudes in a convoy driving lowered miatas and civics. As I was driving up I see another convoy of lowered vehicles etc.. I went up the mountain going on 40 miles per hour, still haven't gotten used to drifting but as I was driving down my car did slight drifts on the twists. It was a lot of fun! The FR-S handled well and the ability to drive it as a go-kart made it extremely fun. I remember my friend driving his Camaro up this mountain and ended up drifting off into the mountain and crashed his car. Very bad experience.

Here's a video of the mountain I go on

Dude, for the first time ever I am jealous of you!
We are seriously devoid of mountains around my parts so I have not yet got to experience the thrill.
Oh, and don't let your car do the drifts! You do the drifts using your car!

Honestly all I know about drifting is slowing down before the turn then speeding after the turn. So in a way you make a good point about my car doing the drifts cause I have absolutely no idea other than that. Will be learning soon and then I will be doing drifts myself. Although for a car doing the drifts alone and managing to maintain crisp handling is sweet for a newbie.

I have amazing roads all around where I live. The only issue is that all the turns in the roads are blind turns . Not safe to drift if you can't see what's ahead on the other side.

If the car is doing it on it's own it is called a skid!
Not the same and not as pretty!!!!!!

How to prevent skidding?

The turns were so nice I had absolutely no idea my car was skidding

I'm looking at the road on Google Maps, how far up do you go? What route is good? Looks like it goes all the way up to Mt. Baldy if you keep driving!

Slow down. For the love of God, don't kill anyone.

Laguna Seca is a two hour drive, Sonoma Raceway is an hour away, Thunder Hill is three hours drive, Marina Airport AutoX is two hours, Alameda AutoX is one hour away, don't fuck around on public roads.

Edit: Get instruction, be safe.

Edit 2: Post videos of a mountain in SoCal, location in NorCal: Button Willow and Fontana Speedway are within easy distance if you're in SoCal.

Try not to take anyone else with you when you go, it's bad form. Notice that second vid ends in a crash, with the rest of the tards involved stopped in the road, in a curve. At least get a GoPro for the vid of your smash.

I forget, how old are you again?

Drifting (motorsport)

ETA: OP, good drifting corners typically have a posted speed limit 15 or more MPH less than your current speed. 40 to 20 for example. Instead of slowing down, you should add speed and floor it at the entrance of the corner. 50 MPH entry into every turn is a good goal to reach for. Give that a shot, since reasonable advice or caution seems to miss the mark with you.

When you say your car was doing drifts, what exactly do you mean? You said you had no idea your car was skidding, which makes me wonder if it was actually drifting at all...

Oh, and seriously, be careful. Yes, this is a fantastic handling car, but don't push it too far. You can very easily crash it if you aren't used to how a low-slung, RWD car behaves when pushed.

Oh you must be new to the SquadRogue experience!
I know I am not the only one that can't decide if he is young and totally naïve or the most successful covert troll to ever hit a forum. I for one still lean slightly to naïve end of the spectrum but he has triggered my trolldar more then once.
