Enkei RPF1 rim width/offset for Nitto NT01 235/40-17 tire?
Measured rim width for 235/40-17 NT01 is 8.5".
Light 17x8.5 rims are not plentiful and good ones can be expensive (i.e., Volk TE37). I don't want to break the bank if I get wheels off on track and need replacements, so going with RPF1. HPDE (track) and AX use. Running -3f/-2.5r camber at just under 1" drop, Ohlins R&T, AP Racing Sprint BBK. I know that NT01 will fit both 17x8 and 17x9 rims. I think that a little wider is better (when in between) to handle tire flex during hard cornering and to avoid having to run higher pressures to compensate. Looking at 17x9 +35. Not sure if I would need spacers with +45, may be tight but would most likely clear BBK and wouldn't rub - want to make sure that there is no rubbing anywhere when pushing on track/AX. 17x9 also fits 245/40 size perfectly so I can try Hankook Ventus RS-3 next. Any reason to go with +45 over +35? Also, if someone in tri-state has black or bronze RPF1 in 17x9 +35 or +45 for sale (no repairs or significant curb rash, straight), let me know what you have. Thx |

are you asking about 17x8 +45 vs 17x9 +35? becuase I thought we already got you covered in the 17x9+35/45 over here
here are their confirmed fitments from their website Enkei RPF1 17x7.5 +48 Enkei RPF1 17x8 +35 Enkei RPF1 17x8 45 Enkei RPF1 (very tight fit, but works) 17x9 +35 Enkei RPF1 18x9.5 +38 17x9 +45 will not fit the sprint kit without spacers AP racing fitment thread Essex fitment guide

Should have just added this to the other thread - since that post, somebody (quite experienced with our cars) mentioned to consider 17x9 +45 and spacers for my setup as opposed to +35...didn't have a chance to discuss why. Thoughts on that? I am hoping for feedback about 17x9 RPF1 offset from those own these rims and push their cars on track/AX and use 235/40 or 245/40 tires, and have coilovers, and use -2.5 or more negative camber all around. I am also hoping for feedback from those who know from track/AX experience if 17x9 is a better fit than 17x8 for NT01 in 235/40 size that's intended for 17x8.5 rim width. I see that +35 clears the BBK without spacer, and I don't mind using spacers to get the most optimal setup for +45. I don't care about the looks (poke, etc), only fit/performance. Much appreciate feedback |

I cannot think of any benefits to using spacers at all unless you have clearance issues or already own the +45. I run 17x9+35 weds tc105n with no problems on 245/40/17.
Maybe there is something to getting the extra clearance because they are afraid of how close they are to the BBK, but AP racing and i think the whole RPF1 +35 thread says they have never had anything hit maybe someone else can chime in on anything that is being forgotten.

Great feedback, thanks I think that I read that +35 can rub in the rear a little with no or little negative camber (I believe it was on 245/40, will check), and I'm looking at -2.5 to -2.8 rear camber on a 1" drop, so probably not a concern in the rear. If I got +45, there should be no rubbing with this camber in the rear, without spacers. I wonder if 10mm spacer with +45 in the front gives the same clearance as +35 with no spacer. Sorry to be a pain but want to make sure I do this right the first time, as it's easy and safe to use 5-12mm spacers for fine-tuning but with +35 I'm stuck if it rubs on track. I already have 235/40-17 Toyo RA-1 on 17x8 RPF1, shaved and heat cycled and with 3-4/32 tread. They worked really well on track and AX, with and without 12mm spacers, but they get a little squirmy at the limit...it may be the driver and JRSC ![]() Got NT01 to see if breakaway and recovery works a little smoother. Thanks again! |

I'll try again...
If you: - own RPF1 in 17x9 and 235-245 width tires - track the car (drive over curbs, etc) - have AP Racing Sprint kit - have coilovers - have at least -2 deg camber all around - experience no rubbing ...which rim offset did you go with (+35 or +45) and what spacers are you using, if any? Thx |

+45 is lighter than +35, even if you add the weight of spacers and extended studs.
You WILL need spacers with the +45 to clear the AP kit. +45 in 5x100 is less common than +35. Disclaimer: I run a 17x8.5 +55 wheel on my personal car... but they're BBS :p |

I am also looking at potentially buying 17x8.5 rims, the best size for 235 and many 245 tires...unicorns are easier to find unless one spends over $2,500 on a set...still looking. I have a feeling that NT01 (thanks for the PM) in 235 width will serve me very well for track and AX. |

You should consider the Maxxis RC1 in 235 as well; they're faster than the NT01 in cooler weather. |
