I think similar units are sold by many different companies when in reality they are made by the same 4-5 manufacturers, Klyde being one of them. Mine shipped with 4.2.2 and it's been rooted and updated to 4.4.4. There are 600+ pages of discussion on these units at XDA.

It comes with the Toyota\Subaru radio adapters built\wired onto the radio harness, its almost ready to plug in and go out of the box, I think I had to re-pin just 1 wire on the harness. The only things you need to buy are the antenna adapter, and if you want to maintain USB\Aux functionality from the stock dash jack there are 2 other adapters..same as listed in the CaFi thread.

The exact model is GA5167 which is sized identical to the factory unit so no dash kit is needed.

Some of the specs listed on the site are not accurate, one of them being you cannot adjust the led coloring of the buttons, but the stock color is orange and it is near the stock color so I'm happy.

I've bee driving a mid-2000's 2.5XT Outback in the snow for the last few weeks, and I miss my BRZ. I keep thinking how much fun I could be having with the BRZ on a nice set of snow tyres. Of course, it's also possible that I'd never make it out of our very steep, snowy driveway (someone drove a FWD van on studded snows down the driveway the other day and couldn't get it out again for two days-- several hours of shoveling, plowing, and gritting were required to free it), and making hurried merges onto the two-lane highway by our house might be annoying (there's a TON of traffic, so you might have to wait five or ten minutes to make a left turn with a decent sized gap in traffic for accelerating while sideways), but every time I come to a quiet, snowy corner in the Outback I think just how much more fun I could have in my car.

The Outback will slide around if you really force it to, but it really doesn't want to and isn't that much fun with an auto trans, no throttle response, and no off switch for the traction control. It's great at its job-- getting you and a lot of other people and stuff through really crappy conditions without even making you think too hard, let alone break a sweat-- but it's no BRZ. I miss my car.

Where is there a snowy driveway in Santa Barbara? We have an 06 OB 2.5i 5MT with Bridgestone Winter Slalom KSl's and it'a blast in the snow. No traction control though so if I tell the car to drift it does it but generally I really have to try to get it to do anything other than go where it is supposed to. You are right about the giggle factor in the BRZ with good snows. I have Conti EWC's and it definitely adds another dimension to the car. We haven't had much of the slippery stuff yet this year but when we did I went (nearly) everywhere I needed to. You have to be careful though, not much clearance means there will be some parking lots you can't get into or out of without getting out of the car to shovel.

did you get the 3500# lift, or the 5000# lift? Any problem with hydraulic fluid leaks at the quick connects? This seems like a great tool to have.

A few weeks ago, I got an email promotion from Bimmertools that showed this lift system which is exactly what I was looking for, but didn't know existed. The quickjack is portable and raises the car 24 inches--high enough to do just about anything easily from underneath the car. You can take the system to the track to change wheels or brake pads in no time. Best of all, you can just leave it on the floor of your garage and drive right over it on a daily basis as it is even low enough for the BRZ to clear without issues. This one will lift up to 5,000 lbs. I'm looking forward to getting a chance to use it on future maintenance.

Changed out the interior dome, door, and vanity lights with some LED ones. Also changed the license plate and trunk lights with LEDs as well.

Looks very nice!
