2015 Mustang

The mustang will have a new design in 2015. Main reason is they want to appeal to other markets around the world. Since i will be likely getting a car in 2 years this seems to be a good wait.
Thoughts?

2015 Mustang

Hey guys, I didn't find a solid thread on the "2014.5" Mustang so I thought I would start it and see what other peoples thoughts are.

The 2015 Mustang is one of the main reasons why I am holding off on buying the BRZ. I really like what the BRZ is about: Its small, nimble and a blast to take around the binds, whether it sideways or planted straight! But none of the 86 owners can deny that it needs more stock power. Power and numbers are not everything but 200bhp is below the standard for modern sports cars nowadays (at least in my book). I really like what we know so far about the next gen Mustang. 4 cylinder with ecoboost, finally an independent rear suspension, smaller body and no more retro body!

Some things that I am hoping for are not as much body roll, a smaller exterior, larger interior, usable rear seats and better handling.

Here are some of my favorite renderings..

I've held off also until the new Mustang is released.

Was following this 6th gen Mustang site a while back and they had some good info going.

Not much new Mustang info tho lately so it's slowed but you might wanna check it out if you're really interested in the 2015 stang.

Darn! Wife really likes the 'Stang and she's due in Nov when her current lease ends. I'd hate to buy just before a radical restyle.

I love, love Ford's new design language. It's got a real strong Aston/Jag feel to it. I think this is the new blood that they need to inject into the brand that will keep them on a forward path.

They look good and the specs are nice, but the build quality needs to be better. Shitty driveshafts and shady chinese transmissions in the current gen is not something I want in an expensive sports cars (the GT).

Also I feel sorta offended saying every owners can't deny it needs more HP...you are just wrong.

The restyle is shaping up to looking great but what is adding to the excitement is whats going to be under the hood. Most people think that Mustangs and turns should not be in the same sentence, but lets face it, the Mustang has come a long way. They handle very well for the price and power. The rumored 2.3 ecoboost engine should have around 300hp. With a smaller body, this could be a great addition to the under 30k sports car option!

I couldn't agree with you more about a better build quality. But I don't mean to offend anyone with the HP statement. Maybe I should said it a different way, but would you not want an extra 30-50whp and torque? The massive torque dip is a major downer. When I was driving my buddies FRS, I had a little trouble passing family sedans! I had to shift down and floor it up to 6k rpm to pass them. If it is a purposed sports car that can run up to $27k+, I would have liked some extra power for that kind of money. The FRS/BRZ/86 is a great car and I don't mean to insult any of the owners, as I love the car my self. To each their own, I guess.

I've had four Mustangs over the last 25 years, and plan to get a new one when the next generation Mustangs come out. I couldn't wait though, it will probably be at least another year until the next one is available, and it would have been close to two years from the time I picked up my BRZ. Not sure at this point if I'll get rid of my BRZ and/or my current Mustang GT for it, but if it is everything I hope it will be, I might. I'll probably go for a GT with the V8 again (assuming it is offered that way). I like the idea of a higher hp turbo 4 and V6, but all of my Mustangs have had V8's, and for me, that is just a part of the Mustang experience.

I'm sure a lot of people will dig the new Mustang if it infact does look something like that. I would rather pick up the current GT than get a "Mustang" that looks like those concepts.

I don't want to drive a Mustang that looks the same as a Fusion/Focus/Fiesta (Aston Martin.) It's a good looking car imo, but I do not feel that it is appropriate to the Mustang history. Personally I'd have appreciated the car a lot more if it was given a unique name, rather than borrowing the Mustang name. I'd rather see a new sports car offering with a new name.. And a new restyled Mustang that is more "muscle car" like.

I'm sure not everyone will agree, but yeah if that's the new redesign I'd sooner pick up a current GT or 302.

I think what makes the current Mustang/Camaro/Challenger etc.. so popular is going to be lost on this newer design. It'll probably sell just as well, but I think it will be a different customer base than prior years. Which is fine from a business perspective, and perhaps a good idea to increase business overall. But kind of sad to see an already borderline "Muscle" losing a little more of it's "Muscle" heritage.

I'd rather have seen the Mustang go into temporary retirement until a new overhaul. And see this new car come out under a different name in the mean time.

Interested to see what kind of guts they give these cars though. They're probably going to be an amazing car to drive.

And for those of you who recognize the Aston Martin front end...It has nothing to do with Ford "copying" or anything. At one point Ford owned the company, and one of the two brothers responsible for designing the Aston front end, is also the designer responsible for the current Fusion/focus/fiesta etc... front end. This new global face they are slapping on all the cars has pretty much always been owned and designed by Ford.

Anyway. That is where the similarity comes from. Although, I did read somewhere a while ago, that the designer himself denied that they were so similar. ( I don't know why? or... how you could deny it? ) but there you go.
