Karting

For karting, I'm aiming for a 7pm-ish start. Even if we do 2 groups plus a final race, should only take 2-3 hours max including some waiting time in between.

Kenny, I think it would be better if we do 2 groups, so I'd rather not dissuade anyone from coming. But thanks for offering.

For the final race, we would take the 4-6 fastest from each group unless someone doesn't want to participate. We can also have a fastest lap of the evening award from all heats which would even out the kart assignments.
If we are doing 2 groups then my GF maybe interested, I also have a few friends that would be interested if we have space. One is my roommate, drives a FoST.

So, the max # of karts on track at one time is 14, our list below shows 16 + 2 maybe's.

  • JVincent
  • FRS_Ken
  • UMB_FR-S & Pauline
  • KingGeo
  • AznKirby - maybe
  • Normancw
  • Headbanger
  • Pushrod - maybe
  • The_Understated
  • Jhx741
  • OrangeGuitar
  • RabidWalrus
  • FT86Chris
  • Chico
  • CarGuy
  • 86gt?
  • DNAist

So we have a few options:
  • We could trim down to 1 group of 14
  • or get some more folks and make it 2 groups of 12-14 each.
I'm up for the latter but will leave it up to the group to decide.

If the 2 maybe's firm up, then we only need 6 more to make it to 2 groups. I would prefer we keep it all "86", but I know I can get a few more to show up from outside of the club if needed t make our minimums.

We can possibly get the top contenders to do a final shootout, but that would be extra cost for those folks.
This would be another race, can be a regular 70-lap or maybe just a short one (but with the top ft86club members only).

Cost?

Waiting on my contact there to let me know.

It is usually $60 each for a qualy + 70-lap race, but we can get a discount from that. Will report back on the pricing shortly.

And yes, we'll book it firm to secure our time slots.
Missed out a lot lately. I am interested in joining .

Thanks Vignesh, will add you to the list!

My contact at TopKarting will firm things up tomorrow and I'll advise on cost and other info.

I will be starting a separate thread in the Canadian Forums for the karting event.

Question:
Is everyone okay with the shootout race format?

i.e.
  • Everyone will pay the $60 (or less, let's say $50) to run in either the 1st or 2nd group.
  • The top 6 from each group will be invited to participate in the "Shootout" race. This can be a race anywhere from 40-70 laps with a cost between $35-50 for only those drivers.
  • So the cost would likely be $50 or up to $85-100 for the drivers that attend the final race.
If there isn't enough interest, we'll just do the 2 groups but I know some of you are pretty competitive and may want a final winner decided.

Slick Auto Solutions will supply a trophy to the winner(s) and the driver with the fastest lap.

So of I understand this correctly, what you are saying, is I get to keep last year's trophy forever?

I supplied the only trophy I ever won last year. Pretty substantial I might add.

Just finished installing the first of my Christmas loot.

Grimmspeed hood struts are now on. No more silly hood bar for me.

I also got the Perrin steering rack lock down and front control arm braces, but those are waiting until I can run the car through a wash to get rid of some of the crap, or the spring.

Next up, ordering my OFH.
